I just bought an iPod Touch and installed iTunes. But some of my albums are split up. How can I get them all back together? And why can't iTunes find artwork for some of them? Most of my soundtracks have no album art. :(  Can someone help me?

iTunes can't always find all the album art and you may have to add it manually (i spent a hour and a half doing this yesterday)

you should be able to edit what album a song belongs to on the get info page. (right click on the song)

What are you talking about?

I've had nothing but issues with Windows 7 (x64), iTunes and my 64GB iPod touch.  I almost regret not returning it and getting a Zune.

a cover up is something you do to a tattoo

A Cover band on the other hand...; you hardly got ripped off, you just didn't pay attention to what you were buying so it's easy for you to blame itunes

Pizza guys are getting worse and worse looking. I guess all the good ones went into porn.

Oy! iTunes. I am anal about keeping my music organized and I had an iPod video for the longest time (and recently the Touch) so I've learned to wrestle with iTunes over the years.

OP: The most likely problem you are having is the "Artist" or "Album" tag info for your songs may be different or may have misspellings. For example, iTunes will list "Pink Floyd" and "The Pink Floyd" as two separate bands. Or, "The Wall" and "Wall" as two separate albums. This will cause the splitting up of your music.

To fix this, I generally click/select on multiple songs then edit the tags for all of them at once - retyping the Artist and Albums names again. This forces all the songs to have the same tag info. I'm sure there are better ways such as apple scripts that can make this easier to do.

As for iTunes not finding album art - any mispellings will also cause art to be not found. Keep in mind that if the song is not in iTunes, it will not find art for it automatically.

Welcome to my nightmare! iTunes sucks. It took me ages to get everything sorted out probably. Oh and good luck if you ever happen to have albums that have the same name but from different artists, iTunes likes to merge those together as well, and don't get me started on how it handles compilations or soundtracks. It took me about 4 months to get all my CDs ripped onto there and sorted properly.

As someone mentioned, right-click "Get Info" and enter the same artist and album for all the songs that belong together. Once that's done copy paste the album cover from any picture you find on the internets.

Two steps to fix files outside of itunes (then feel free to reinsert them into itunes after, although I think it's the worst program ever created).

1- Use the musicbrainz tagger. That program will scan you songs and find (or at least suggest) the correct entry for the song in their database (which is insanely complete). Basically, if you have artists like: The Smashing Pumpkins, Smashing Pumpkin, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. it will all correct them and redo the tags. Also work great to fix all caps titles and so on. It can also rename all filenames to a standard you like. It's not the easiest program out there, but once you understand it, it's pretty neat.

2- Get Mediamonkey - and use it only to find missing cover art. I think it uses Amazon by default, works decently as long as you don't have obscure Japanese releases of a 1970's obscure band.

Argh! I have a feeling I'm gonna be spending a lot of time in iTunes. I miss Zune, the player was so organized and pretty...
