I would like to list as full package if something minor is missing (Like a cardboard sleeve or an advertisement insert from Nintendo Power), and when I get a request, send a PM warning them about the missing thing before I accept the request.

Is that sort of approach inappropriate for this site?

Or, should I list as 'disc and manual'?, even though what I have is 'disc and manual and original case and original case inserts'?  Just listing it as 'case and manual' would be a very significant under-representation of the quality of the game, and I'm afraid it would delay my ability to offer it.

(Honestly I'm not sure why there is a 'disc and manual' option.  Who would still have the manual, but not have the case?  If anything, they'd lose the manual first.  It should be 'Full package with everything it had at retail', 'Complete original case and manual', and 'Disc only')

Advertisement inserts are not necessary when listing as Full package. Cardboard sleeves are if it is the only way a game is sold, but many don't care about it. Sometimes those sleevs hold extras that came with the item. So I suggest PMing the buyer that the Cardboard sleeve is not there, and if it is ok.

If this is a cardboard sleeve like the kind that come on some modern PC games with the thicker plastic case underneath, you'll probably be okay sending full package, as long as that is all that is missing, but don't be surprised if you get a +5. Or if you mean the brown cardboard inserts used to keep softer boxes from collapsing, you'll definitely be able to trash those without anyone knowing or caring. You'll want to be careful with stuff inside the box though, user operations manuals (the kind in black and white in some nintendo games) and advertisements and such are probably safe to throw away but if it's something like a poster or Heavy Rain's origami paper or some anti-piracy stuff from an old PC game, you will not be able to list the package as full if you are missing them.

Older PC games, collector's editions, and other games with flimsy packaging like GBA titles, PSX games (which are falling apart due to crappy plastic) and some others.

PC games. The boxes are huge and bulky, and often are thrown away. But the manuals hold a lot of useful info.

PS1 and dreamcast games. The original case gets damaged, so you slip the original manual into a replacement jewl case and it's sudenly D+M

GBA games. The boxes are awkward to store, and many people threw them away the minue they opened the game, but kept the manual

Fore current gen games, say you damage the green xbox case or white wii case. You take the art insert, manual and disc and slip them into a replacement DVD case. That can only be listed as D+M

So I'm getting that it's cool to PM someone before accepting when they request my game, to warn them about some minor missing thing, or some other potential consideration.

And if they don't like it the trade can be cancelled and I won't be penalized or anything?  Right?

I have a question as well.  Can I list it as a full package if it comes with disc, manual, and case, but a hinge on the case is broken?

Swap the cases and then list it at Full Package.

Can I list something as Full Package if say, the disc is missing?

OP theres a good chance i would leave a neutral if you sent a game to me without the sleeve, without first notifying me; it's not me being anal, it technically is not full package and would affect my future trade of the game

you would probably get a +5 and pending the user, a nasty comment; don't knowingly send someone a broken case

So if I PMed you and said that it was missing the cardboard sleeve or something small like that, you'd say 'Thanks but no thanks, because it would impact my ability to re-trade it' ?  Then I could click 'reject' on the request or something, right?  Will that result in some kind of penalty or problem for me?

I think most people would be okay with it, but I still want to be fair and explain potential problems, but at the same time it would be silly for me to just list it as manual and disc.

Correct; if we had already matched and you cancelled the penalty is that you lose your spot in line; however, more than likely i would accept the trade in this situation, being that at this point i feel like you're just being a good/honest trader

So in that instance, should I put the manual&disc in a generic case and list it as Disc+Manual Only?

I would just swap the case with a legit one; im just saying that if a case is damaged enough, people have left neutral feedbacks that have stuck for the trade

PSX games: It seems to me that in most situations of the case degrading, the manual will get lost too, since the case is what keeps the manual stuck to the game.  I can't imagine this option is used very often, except as a roundabout way to advertise that if you request it you'll get shipped a case but it'll be damaged.

Older PC Games: This is the biggest problem I have with this system.  I don't care about the oversized boxes that some PC games go into (New ones too, sometimes).  But I do want to receive a game with its proper CD/DVD case.

There is no appropriate selection for me!

I can pick 'full package' and wait in the queue literally forever, because nobody keeps those oversized boxes, and they'd probably cost more to ship, or I could pick 'manual and disc' even though getting no case would be unacceptable to me.

GBA games: Good point.

I still think it should be a selection between 'Near retail' (Absolutely everything it came with at retail except the cellophane wrapper), 'Game only' (Original CD/DVD/Cartridge case, if any, disc and manual; accessories optional; box optional), and 'Disc only'.
