I owed the gov't about 2k this past year....until my '$8k for buying a house in 2009' was added.  Whew.

The year before I owed about $500...cleared that by claiming moving expenses.

The year before that I owed about $600....cleared that due to tuition costs.

....I'm afraid I'm out of excuses to pay come next year...lol.

I used to get a tax break from my RRSP contributions, but I just started making them again.  I had changed jobs that has a pension and roughly 15% of my gross gets contributed (round 6 from me and 9 from the employer) and I think any tax break I get is when I get paid...next year should be better as we are buying a house.

I get about $500 and I didnt even work this past year.  I have gotten a refund every single year.  The one year I got a $3000 refund.  I love when they overtax you, it is like getting free money when you get your refund.

Uncharted 1 & 2

Modern Warfare 2

LittleBigPlanet

Resistance 1 (I haven't played number 2, it may be cool too)

Batman AA

Can't go wrong with these.  Except maybe littlebigplanet, but I doubt it.

die in a fire? seems a little harsh, eh? did you even have a job?

a refund is just that.. a refund for an overpayment for taxes. if you want a refund next year, just lower your number of exemptions on your w4 (of course, you will get less each pay period). alternatively, just put 15 bucks from each paycheck into a jar and in a year use it to buy a ps3. it all equates to the same thing.

I was mostly kidding, in the inevitable sense that every year is the same, pay taxes...

Taxes up North don't work the same way, and even worse, we do two tax reports here in Quebec. I usually get a hefty refund (around 15k) but my wife gets a hefty bill (around 15k) and since I'm a good husband after all...

I always thought it was more like they were getting an interest-free vulcan grip on your money for the year..

I'm getting a slim PS3 too next week with my tax refund.

Preordred FFXIII on PS3 instead of 360.

I'm gonna get Metal Gear Solid 4 for sure, as well as God of War 3 as soon as it get released. My friend as Demon's Soul and says he can't stop playing so it should be good too.

Uncharted 2 seems to be a must have too.

When you have a wife that needs to spend every last dime we have I really dont mind the interest free part.  I think of it as my personal savings account, I get a boost of money in spring and can buy the kids new clothes and shoes and get myself something with the leftover money, that is if I can spend it before she does.

My goal is to break even every year.. I'd rather have the money sitting in the bank year round collecting me interest than allow the gov't to collect interest on my dollars...
