Heavy Rain became more requested (active) in Goozex than Mass Effect 2. Which came as a surprise to me. I was not even remotely expecting that.

Why did it happen?

Let me know if there is any other reason I didn't think of.

Why is Heavy Rain more requested than Mass Effect 2?

  • People bought Mass Effect 2 rather than trying to get it on Goozex (77.3%)
  • Heavy Rain is more approchable to most gamers in comparison to ME 2 (1.3%)
  • Heavy Rain is a better game than ME 2 (21.3%)
  • Total Votes: 75

Because ME 2 came out a month before?  Is this currently, or at their respective peaks?

I'm not blessed with a 360, but everything I've heard and seen about ME2 is that it's awesome.  Games that are awesome I'd think people tend you find a way to get NOW, instead of playing the Goozex waiting game.

I remember Mass Effect 2 having 400 active requests a couple of days after release date.

Heavy rain right now have 570 active requests. That is the highest I have seen for any game and almost 1.5 times of ME2. This came as a surprise.

Or people know Heavy Rain will trade quickly as it is a short game.  PSWii picked it up yesterday and finished it this morning.

I'm curious to see comparative sales figures given the records ME2 set for the month of January...even though it only had a week out of the month.

I don't quite understand the option of 'Heavy Rain is better than ME2'...they care two completely different experiences which make a direct comparison difficult.

ME2 also has EA's Project $10 which encourages buying it new.  Buying ME2 second hand will strip you of one in game character, two missions and bonus items...unless you want to pay EA $10.  I don't think Heavy Rain has anything like that.

I think more people are on the fence about buying HR.  The game is unlike anything else out there, and many people don't want to spend their money on a game that they're not sure if they're going to like.  ME2 is a sequel. If you played the original, you pretty much know what you are getting. Odds are, if you are a fan of the original, you're going to buy it rather than wait in the queue.

It's an insanely high number of requests, something like 1600 total, and over 600 active. Never seen anything like it in my brief time on Goozex.

I guess since it's short and experimental, people are intrigued but not willing to pay full price for it.

I'm just glad I'm 24 out of those 1600... Remember to include your origami paper in the trade, people! ;)

I'd be willing to bet that because Heavy Rain is a game that's known to be extremely short (but re-playable if you're into that sort of thing), people are a bit hesitant to spend $60 knowing they might be done with it in a couple days.

That's my reason. Mass Effect 2 also is an RPG which by nature lends to be a longer game.

Because more people bought it because of the Cerberus network coming in all NEW copies of the game?

People are buying Mass Effect 2 because it is a game you keep for a long time.

Where is the option to say that Mass Effect 2 is a better game... because you know, it is.

Demo seems cool, but holy cow that Voice Acting is baaaaaad, well more so the direction of the VA, the voices themselves are ok, (lame accents) but the pacing, delivery, timing and such is way way off.

I would agree, HR is more like a 1 week rental type game, some of these QTEs are not high on the replay value.

I love the "press X to jason" flash game.... hilarious

I pre-ordered ME2 because I wanted to play it asap and planned on holding onto it.....I requested Heavy Rain through Gamefly as I have heard good things about it but do not know if I want to keep it after I have beaten the game.

I'm sad about that. HR kinda sucks, ME2 was amazing...

Even if it does have more requests, you can't compare the two. It's like apples and crab cakes (just to exaggerate the difference). Two completely different games, with different play styles. They just can't really be compared.
