the 4890 that I bought at a cheap price were to good to be true. after i sell my cpu, 4870, maybe broken 4890 i will hopefully recieve around 300ish dollars. what graphics card is good around that price range? i am looking forward to a "new" radeon 5850.
where did you pick the 4890 from? Can you not return it.
newegg. i do not want to pay them 15% percent. besides, it was open box. never again will i buy anything used.
I am pretty sure newegg guarantees their products so if you file a claim for broken product they should replace it or give you your full money back.
If you are looking for a card that is around 300 go with a 5850. I would look for one to go on sale and you should be able to get one for closer to 250+ tax. The cheapest one I could find was 273.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0037AMBWU/ref=sr_1_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266633738&sr=1-1&condition=new
Sorry to hear your 4890 didn't turn out.
The 5850 is a great suggestion for your setup. If you can, go with that.

Still a waste of money. What the hell are you people playing that you need hardware like this.

Future Warfare 4.
No chance to send it in to the maker? You said it was an open box but I've had good experiences with companies replacing dead cards in the past without and they never seem to ask for proof of purchase for some reason, so it being an open box item probably wouldn't even matter.
Was it a Powercolor card? I've had nothing but trouble with them over the past year...
EDIT: I actually have a used XFX 260 GTX sitting here that I'm planning on selling. Let me know if you're interested.

I agree. A $300 dollar graphics card is unneeded, but che3zeman has been wanting a faster card for a while now. He already has a 4870 which, in my opinion, is plenty for almost any game, but a 5850 is a good card if he wants to get something new.
If at all possible, I also suggest fixing the 4890.

all ready selling the 4870 and the 4890 on ebay. you guys can feel free to bid on them. ebay username is che3zeman123. whatever money i get from selling the 4870,4890, and my cpu is what i am going to use for the new video card. i i recieve more than 300 dolars i will buy the 5850. if less then ill either go with a 5770 or another 4890 that is new NOT used.
sadly i am positive that i will not get more than 300 dollars selling those items. What graphics card do you think is really good within the 200ish dollars range? I would love to hear your guys' opinion. I will get a 5770 unless someone changes my mind or if i get more than 300 dollars.
hopefully by the time i recieve the money from the items that i will sell fermi thing should be out and the prices for ati cards should drop.
what do you guys think about the 5830?
che3zeman: what do you guys think about the 5830?
The 5830 isn't out yet. Right now I don't think it's even been confirmed.(Feel free to correct me.)
I think the 5770 sounds like a good card right now. It has similar performance to a 4890, it can run DX11, and it has better power consumption.
