Well obviously don't cancel cause you lose your spot and he won't ship back so he essentially gets free games. Is the case actually broken. has he taken pictures?
I'd take the feedback and escalate to goozex explain your side of the story and make him prove the case is broken. If anything he'll have to ship back to Gooz HQ and if he's faking he'll either not send and give you positive or maybe he'll break it and it'll be obvious.
Anyways take the neutral and dispute if you actually think you aren't at fault. DON'T CANCEL!

obviously you dispute the neutral, no one can guarantee it won't stick, but you have to do what you can do. a neutral is not the end of the world, it will hardly affect you at all, if the unfair should occur and you are stuck with it.

Tiberius2:Was the case broken when you mailed it? If not, dispute the feedback and make them send it in to Goozex. They'll probably bump it up to a +5.

You have two options
Option 1. Accept the Neutral. We know its not your fault and a neutral give you -10 on your feedback but you will keep your points. So you lose nothing except that you will need to complete couple of positive trades after that so that you can receive a game.
Option 2. Escalate it to Goozex and let them take care of the dispute. The worst feedback Goozex can give you for a broken case is Neutral. But you might get a positive if they consider that the case was broken in shipping and it was not your fault.
In both Option 1 and Option 2 you will keep your points.
Do not cancel the trade with the buyer or you will lose your points.
DO NOT accept the cancel. Dispute it. A neutral doesn't matter that much (you still get your points), but being as it is so obviously a scam, there is no reason not to escalate it. You only stand to gain by escalating. Worst case scenario is that nothing changes, but most likely it will.
who is actually heartless enough to view a third party slip-up (usps breaking the case in transit) as, essentially a "negative" transaction?
Its important, and I don't think its been mentioned, to also ask what kind of "case" it was. A jewel case or dvd case being cracked, but the artwork being fine would make his argument completely laughable as those can be replaced for a wooden nickel.
It depends, if you packaged the item well, then you should still receive a positive. If you packaged it like some of the idiots on Goozex (wrapped in a paper bag with no padding) then you deserve the bad feedback.
