New people aren't signing up and buying the gcs since they've restricted new people from buying them.
Really?  That's good to know.  Where did you see that?

zoro69:
I wondered with the popularity fo the gc deal if it would have a detrimental effect this time, but I don't think so.
There is no question about whether or not the GC deal has had a detrimental effect - it has.  The question is whether or not the good will outweigh the bad.  Which in my opinion, it will not... but, it is very difficult to measure precisely, so who knows.

Haven't been super active in the forums lately other than a couple select threads... I'll have a look.

Believe this is in the neighbourhood fo 500 HIGHER then it was before the gc offer

trades going on right now:5850

The user count 56,960 user has gone up  a few thousand since the start of the year (no idea how many of the total are real active users, but the growth % is certainly much higher then it looks).  They have to add points somehow as the users grow.

Im getting matched as a buyer as much as ever, all low point ones you'd think would be most affected by the point sale, if there was to be a detrimental effect.

yeah they should be on the 2nd or third page by now, it is still recent, but one of them is entitled Can't buy gift cards? or maybe it says GC - don't remember exactly

my game trades have picked up a lil in the past week.

But movie trading seems dead now, unless it's the popular flicks people are "renting", being first in line doesn't help when 100% of offers are on hold

I've sent out 5 games and am waiting on my first, which unfortunately hasn't been a good experience since the guy confirmed the item was shipped and 11 days later messaged me to say he forgot to send it out. Ugh.

At any rate I bought 1k points for half price through the promotion and while I don't regret that I did it I'm also not happy with how long its taking to get a game. I've been waiting on Fallout 3 GOTY for a long time. I'm patient but man, some more trades would be great.

I'm first in line for MW2 PS3 if I send it out and 2nd in line if I send out Bioshock. But with the delay in games I might as well keep trying to get trophies in each I don't have and neglect sending them out since I can't get anything in return. I'm not a trophy hunter so this is rare for me. I do tend to enjoy the games a tad more this way but man I'd rather have something else to play.

I'd definately agree that more bonus points should go to people who are willing to send out new titles quickly because they are giving up a new game and more then likely not getting anything back soon to fill in the gap. I did have MAG in my queue but gave up on it and went and bought it new instead. Clearly a loss for me when I paid $27 for the 1000 points I could have used to get it here but only after its been out for months :(

The OP is soft. I have 91 active/unfulfilled requests and 3300 points, and you don't see me complaining :)

Sometimes you just have to accept that some games may not move for a long time. For instance, DJ Hero with a turntable for 1200 points seems undervalued to me (it's $80 at Gamestop on clearance). Blu-rays are slow to move. Kid's movies are in shorter supply than I'd have expected--although I guess for the newer ones that makes sense. (You don't buy a kid's DVD with the intention of watching it once--you get a year's use out of it before the kid is done with it.)

Just walk away and wait for the matches to come. Patience.

Oh, and if you haven't opened up to USA, that'll make all the difference in the world.

Exactly, and the big tease is of course when you are like 2nd or 1st in line and sit and wait for months

It's part of the trade off.

I'd rather wait in line on goozex than wait in line on Gamefly and pay $25month

I currently have 7250 points with 395 active requests, but you can't MAKE somebody trade something. You have to sit and wait. That's how it works. I received an 150 item in the mail today, so people are certainly trading low point items, it just takes time. And as for the cabela games, someone would have to have bought them in the first place in order to trade them. Big Smile

Have some common sense--a brand new game isn't going to move in volume immediately. Give it a few months. Once people get bored of it, you'll see it start to trade.

If you need games on release month, buy them the usual way. Or pray for a good spot in line :)

Hey everyone,

I am the original poster of this topic. I really appreciate all of the comments that have been submitted. Many people have suggested that I open to the USA which sounds good but I am afraid that someone in Florida will not want to ship to me in Canada.

Others have preached patience which I completely understand. I am patient with selling my games (and understand if someone will never buy them) and am also patient with waiting for games that are rare or are undervalued (i completely  understand if game A is valued at 200 points but is really worth 500 points  -  i dont blame the person for not wanting to send it right away.) However, there are many common games that should be available on a website such as this.

My main purpose of this post was to create some discussion about this subject. I am thinking that there should be more innitiative from the actual users of the site in terms of supplying ideas to increase the traffic and selling/buying of games. Perhaps Goozex can offer 10,000 points to the person who develops the best marketing plan or creates a way to increase trades amongst users. This type of activity can only help make Goozex a better site.

Think about  it from the perspective of all the interested parties. More trades means more $1 transactions for Goozex and perhaps more purchased spending points. More trades also means more users can sell their completed games and will receive more points. More users who buy games will win because they will be able to trade more frequently and at a better rate.

Thus, we must determine a way to maximize this three way reciprocal cycle. Goozex is an excellent source. How can it be better organised and marketed is the next step because it will, in turn, benefit everyone involved. I have 1150 point right now. That means  I can buy 5 x 200 point games and 1 x 150 point games. I will receive 6 games, 6 people will receive points and Goozex will receive 6 dollars. This is the ideal scenario. How we reach this is the question I am now asking of you...

Well, the problem is you're not seeing this from the seller's perspective. Some games can be traded/sold in for better value, or it's worth more to them than what's being offered.

Anyways, there are already plenty of stuff implemented to coax people to trade (getting a better feedback, bonus points for new games), but the fact of the matter is, it's still up to the user to decide whether they want the points.

As for getting 6 games for 1150 points, you need to be patient (as everyone has pointed out), or try to get games that are available. As I've stated, I did so and was matched pretty quickly. The 200 point games are obviously gonna be in short supply, because no one has them or they don't want to trade. Increasing the amount of points for the game won't help either, as that would cause other problems. Just leave them in your request section and forget about them, and if they come through, consider it a nice surprise, if they don't, no worries.

If they actively opened trade with Canada, that means people in Florida do want to ship to Canada. Don't worry - many of us have been sending games to Canada for a while.

(I have to admit, I was uneasy at first several ones).
