and yeah, 100 pters is a good way for new users to build up feedback.

We've been asking for a new 100pt game promo or something but nothing I've heard about sticks.

Like offer 10 100pts games and get a free cheesecake or something.

That's the core problem, people need a reason to get rid of a 100pter.

I do send 100 point games cause I am not going to play them, and someone else will. On top of that, I can get another 100 point game in exchange. With the trade token it ends up being 3 bucks for an older game.. still cheaper than a rental. It definitely isn't any enormous windfall or anything, but I feel better sending a game to someone here than leaving it sitting on the shelf or bothering with selling them for a few bucks elsewhere.

That said, the demand alone from people having more points has drive up the points values.

Here's the email I got this weekend.. pretty much every game moved up.

I do enjoy the idea of trading video games for cheesecake.  In all seriousness, I do think some promotion or incentive would be a good idea.  If people thought the expense and work involved in sending out a ton of 100 point games would be rewarded (beyond slowing amassing points), there might be more action.

Patience is key when requesting 100 point games. But recently I have found that expanding your trading region brings in more 100 point games. Also, there are little ways of cutting back on costs of shipping a 100 point game. Recycling envelopes is a way to save sometimes up to a dollar or even paying for shipping and printing the label from home.

goozex staff wants cash flows, it's not really hard to understand why they do it and arguing the pros and cons won't get you anywhere.

these promotions have gotta make goozex staff bank as there's no products, no shipping, no stocking fees, just pure cash for nothing.

i would assume they don't care that much if it slows trades for a month.

as for the 100pt titles, it all comes down to how poor you are and if it's more about the money or trading culture of goozex.

I had the old "every game I put on my request list last week, increased 50 points a few days later syndrome.

So I put them all on hold.

I am curious why Goozex does not have some sort of automated system for raising the point price of games based on demand.  For example, looking at games like Scarface (Wii) or Lego Star Wars (Wii) that have mounting demand backlogs, why doesn't the system automatically bump these by 50 to try to jump start trades (and make themselves more money in tade tokens)?  For example, if 10-20 people are waiting in a demand queue, why doesn't the point price just automatically jump 50 that week?

There is a system for that to happen.  I don't know what the logic is behind the algorithm, but there is some logic there to increase and decrease price.  I believe it factors in things such as release date, supply, demand and MSRP (for initial price point - not later on).  I may be incorrect, so...don't believe anything I say in other words.

On the opposite end of the spectrum there is Tiger Woods 2008 for DS. It sits at 400 points while only being traded 20 times in the past 2 years. It's in my queue to get rid of and it is the last TW game made on DS, I would really like the price to drop so I can just get rid of it.

Yeah, I hate the point discrepancies. It clogs up both ends. There's several games I'd rather just pay a few hundred more points for so people would actually trade them out.

I agree - there's almost no reason to ship out 100 pointers when the postage and shipping materials cost about the same as the points.   These sales do run often enough that you can stock up on points periodically.    Last year they did it around the holidays, I also remember something around Valentine's day, and there was one in July as well.

The only 100 pointers I've shipped out were DVD's, and that's because I literally don't want them anymore and plan to replace some of the stuff I would with Blu-Ray.

You should look up some of the thread discussions after the very first 50% off promo... there were some good debates going on there.
