I do agree with the request that Goozex supply and demand should be a bit more dynamic than it is.

If a 100er has an increase in demand, it should go up.  Often times it seems titles can stagnate; be it at a high or low price.

However, now that I know that I will be able to pick up 100 points for $2.50, I will definitely not be sending 100 point games.

Well, you cant pick up 100 points for 2.50.  You can Pick up 2000 for $50, or 1000+5 trade tokens for 27.50. It may sound like I'm splitting hairs but its an important distinction. There is an entry barrier there. You cant really take advantage of the discount unless you are willing to spend at least 27.50.  And even if you do you cant spend it all on 100pt games because you only got 5 trade tokens.

My point is that you have to remember where you are...this site is full of people that are ...hmm..."thrifty"... Many peopl come here so that they dont have to spend real money on games. Unless there was a new release that I HAD to have, I'm probably not going to take advantage of the 50% off promo. If I were first in line for Bioshock 2 or ME2, I might go ahead and buy the points rather then spend twice the price at retail. I'll buy a gift card for a friend that just joined because his birthday is this month, but probably not for myself. To me 100 points is still worth the same as it was before the promo. I'm happy that the promo is on because people are more willing to let go of their points.  Then on Feb 15th when points are back to normal value, I have come out ahead.

Thanks for the reasoned reply, vmcintos.  Although I do consider myself a cheap ass, I probably am more extravagant (and less patient) than many on this site.  Again, I hope less people think like me and more people are willing to send out the 100 point games so that I can use up all of the points that I purchased.

I have gotten quite a few 100 point games during the last big sale like this, and a couple here this week coming that are 100 points, so no, there has not been an effect on it.  You have to consider most people on this site can't afford to drop 50 to 137 bucks for points at any given time.  I know a lot of people here are teenagers or college kids that just barely get by, so there will always be a good sized group on here that are not buying points at all.

That being said, 100 to 200 point games are not really being overlooked just cause of point sales, some sellers just do not send out anything under 200 points cause they see it as a waste of time and money to mail them for that price.   To that I say "pssssf, silly".  I sent out a crapload of 100 point games during my time here, cause they are games that I know people wanted, plus they got me points that added up, and helped feedback as well.

I second this, maybe for a slightly different reason - I have a couple of games that I enjoyed a lot, but for some reason are valued at only 100 pts now I'm not sure of the demand for these games, but I certainly don't feel comfortable parting with them at this price point, whether or not I ever play them again.  maybe someday I can give them to somebody who will appreciate them, not pay 2-3 dollars to get the equivalent of 5$ - I have both received and sent many 100 pters

also not happy with the assumption that all dvd's are almost valueless just because there is a slightly better counterpart on the market. I've seen blu ray movies on HD tvs in store, and I am not blown away by the difference for the money

goozex points are absolutely worth money, and inflation wil never be a problem as long as games can be acquired from other sources and fed into the system, which they always will be

But luckily this promo ends soon, hopefully it didn't run long enough to really change anything significantly. And those people who didn't feel like sending there lower point games, start sending them again a month or two from now.

I think this is the crux of the matter.  This is only a short time promo, and it may mess some things up for a while but it is only for a little time.  Things will stabilize out.  You also have to remember that promos bring in more members which in the long run will lead to more availability of games.  So in the short term it may hurt 100 point trading but it will help it in the long run.

I think the other thing that has not been considered here is the sense of contribution that many Goozex members feel.  If you have an old game, and it's not doing you any good, trade it off for the points but also for the fact that you might be making another Goozers day.  It's good to treat others as you'd like to be treated.

This, to me, is a very dumb debate. We want the value of the games to be adjusted ebcause of a promotion going on thus negating the purpose of a promotion. The point of the promotion is for goozex to make some money to thrive as a commercial company, and to move trades. Shipping is an expected cost in trading and I never take it into account with the value of a product. The reason why is because I pay for shipping on a 100pt game, but so does somebody else who send me a 100pt game. In my opinion shipping is a wash in comparison to the games you recieve. You pay just as others pay so you don't have to pay as a buyer as you would have to pay for shipping if you purchased from almost all websites that sell video games. There is a lot of people on this site who seem to be awfully cheap.

Although it's fine that you consider shipping to be a wash, I don't think many people think that way.  For individuals who want to trade a bunch of 100 point games for a 1000 point game, I think they realize that they are going to spend $25+ on shipping and have to deal with the hassle of throwing them all in the mail.   Why someone would go through that trouble when you can buy a $27.50 giftcard is beyond me.  Therefore, I think there is no doubt that there are people who would refuse to send 100 point games in the expectation of simply buying some in the future at half price.

I do appreciate the notions of being a good Goozex trader and getting feedback for such trades, but, unfortunately, I am sure there are plenty of people who do not look at it this way.

This is because sending out 10 100 point games your doing this say over a time span.  Even if it takes two weeks to send these games out your spending $3 to ship each game over a time span.  Not having to spend the $25- 30 right up front which alot of people dont have.  So for them to spend $3 here and there over a time period is more than possible for them.

I get mostly low point games and trade them back out, I have not seen any change or problem with sending or recieving. I could take my 100 point game to gamestop and get $3 for it or I could trade it in here and get a whole new game for less. Just be patient man plenty of people are trading low value games. 100 points isnt 2.50 its another game!

A lot of people on this site are FRUGAL, and I appreciate it.  I'm married with 3 kids, a house, a car payment, a school loan, and I make about 1/3 less than I made before.  I'm glad this site exists for frugal people and I think it is healthy to revisit what makes it work and keep it's working.  It's not a dumb debate.

I think of 100 point games as a rental. Keep it as long as you want and whenever you want a new one just return for 2.50 bucks and get another. If you think like that you will never have an issue with sending one or receiving one. Thats my take on it.

On the radio stations around here, the hot promotion idea is to sell gift certificates to classy restaurants at half price.

If those restaurants rose prices by 50-100% just because "our food isn't worth as much anymore", I'd locate the manager and use his butt to swipe my credit cards.  It's a sleazy thing to do.

I've had 100pters on my on hold list go up as high as 350 then back down again later... but yeah most don't change
