I have Mario Kart, along with every other game I own, "on hold". If the time comes that I want to get rid of it I would switch it to Active, and I would have a better spot in line than if I waited until I actually wanted to get rid of it. Is it entirely fair? I don't know exactly, but that's how the system works, so I use it.

This is pretty much what I do... any game that is tradeable that I own, I list on hold...

Exactly what I do as well.

You may have many suggestions or precise suggestions but not both.

but would fix people taking advantage of using the hold system

People aren't taking advantage of it. They're using it the way it's supposed to be used

taking advantage of and using it the way it's suppoed to be used can actually mean the same thing - like "I took advantage of the opportunity" as opposed to "he took advantage of me"

so that's exactly what people are doing, taking advantage of the on hold queue - it's only bad when you're talking about sentient beings on the receiving end, not objects - sorry -  English major

I'm going to go take advantage of my boots when I go out in the storm - sounds dirty doesn't it?

I too put every game I have on hold.  That is the point of the "on hold" section of goozex.  When I want a game I don't even look at how many people have it on hold.

I really want Mario Kart for wii, but I'm probably just going to buy it at an actual store sometime soon.

Right now, there is an online offer at Gamestop to get any Nintendo Wii/DS game online at 15% off.  It says "in-stock" only (currently back ordered), but after running it though the cart, it still gives the discount.  So, if you don't mind paying $42.50, shipping and waiting for it to come back in, that's an option for you.  According to various online retailers, Nintendo is resupplying the majority this coming week.  Or, you can wait in line to get ahold of one, like the rest of us. :-)

I'm about to say something very stupid and you should rightly scold me after you read this. To put it mildly, I'm mighty confused by what is being discussed here. I always thought that when you request a game and then check the trading stats, it lists the other people that have requested the game, right? It lists the people that have requested the game that are active, restricted, and on hold, right? Meaning that all those numbers in the "on hold" category that you can view when you check the trading stats on a request, you're viewing other people that have requested the game and then put it on hold, right? Or have I just been operating under the wrong assumption for ages??? Or am I just not understanding what is being discussed in this thread???

*I wonder all this because if the topic's author has indeed requested the game, the "on hold" that he'd be seeing is other requests, not people that own the game but have it on hold in their offers.

There is an "on hold" queue/list for both requests and offers. You can see both on anything. If you click "view stats" from your request list, you will just see the other requests. If you, however, go to the actual item page and click "trading info" you will see the offers. The opposite of this is true if you have it listed as an offer. If you don't have it on either list, clicking "trading info" will give you the full stats on both offers and requests.

I traded mine out so don't look at me, it was disc-only because the case was bilingual i think french and english.....soooo yea

All (or most anyay) games Nintendo releases has text on the case and in the booklet in both English and French. Even Dead Space: Extraction is in English and French, and it's not even published by Nintendo.

Oi, too expensive to ship. Would cost about 8$ to send to America from Canada.

I dont think it was a secret...

Also BTW, I'm #1 on Mario Kart Wii. I have on hold so I can get rid of it as soon as I want. Although I too take advantage of the on hold feature I do think that it is a little unfair that people can move up to #1 in line and just hold that spot. You should get a que position when you list it and you shouldnt be able to move up until you activate it...but  thats another thread.

Goozex should make a thing where you can't keep a game on hold for more than, say 10 days, and after those ten days, its traded automaticly

Someone else said it but that is a horrible idea

Then don't do it. Lead by example.

Wont work...but good try...lol. This isnt a "lead by example" type of situation. If I take it off then whoever is #2 will just move to #1 and no one will ever know that I "took one for the team".  You cant blame people for taking advantage of what has been given to them. If it causes a problem then you stop giving it to them.
