this isn't really a huge deal but i requested the lord of the rings: the two towers full package for 100pts on standard DVD.

I received the DVD after very slow shipping in a sticker covered blockbuster case with the blockbuster bar-codes and all. The disks themselves were scratched and filthy but so far worked for the first 10 minutes of the film and there was also no leaflet in the case which the retail full package disks come with.

since i requested this DVD simply to have a full package retail copy on my shelf i'm curious as to what you guys would do in this situation.  I want to leave a negative as this is clearly not what i requested, but i'm not sure if this is just something i should deal with as it's a small fault in the goozex system or not even waste my time on 100 pts and just request it again and get a better copy?

i care less about the points and more about not letting people get away with trading filth on goozex as i think with some honesty and trust this is a great place to trade games.

2 things I would verify before leaving any feedback.

  1. Verify the UPC code on the packaging matches the version you had requested (type the full code into the search box from the movie section on the main page)
  2. Due to the wear on the disc, verify that the movie plays completely with no significant issues

If it winds up being a playable copy and the version you requested - leave a neutral and you can always leave some specific notes about the quality of the packaging when leaving feedback comments.

If it's a different version of LotR or if the movie won't play, you can leave a negative as appropriate.

In either case, it's pretty sad that the other trader wouldn't even bother to clean up the packaging a bit before sending it out.  I can understand making the mistake on a Blockbuster case once, but the quality of the package leaves alot to be desired by the sound of things.

This is one thing that worries me. Some of my titles (before I began boycotting the store) were purchased at EB games. These are "new" copies (everyone knows how their "new" copies work I am sure...)

I am able to get most of the residue off but to completely clear the package I will most likely end up messing up the plastic on the case. I wouldn't trade a game that was scratched or anything but some people might get iffy about the case.

That would be my understanding of the situation.

Personally, I wouldn't want a blockbuster case either, but when Goozex came up with the sell 10 movies, get one movie free deal, they specifically mentioned Blockbuster in the ad/post.  They said to get to Blockbuster and raid their buy 5 for $20 rack.

Granted, the guy should have attempted to clean up the case, but you can't give a negative feedback for the problem.  You SHOULD (in my opinion) give the +5 positive feedback since you aren't entirely satisfied.  I just traded a Wii game yesterday that I bought "new" from GameStop, so naturally, the case was ripped and had sticker residue on it.  Instead of sending as is, I switched it out with a Wii case in better condition.  The seller could have extended the same courtesy in this case.

It's not a +5 positive, because you asked for full package and you didnt get the manual or the original case.

And unless the discs don't work or it was the wrong product, then it's not a negative, because you received a working copy of the product you requested.

This would be a neutral for "I requested Full package, but received disc only or disc+manual", provided that you received the discs of the product you requested in working condition.

There is no manual for a movie.  And to my understanding, it doesn't say anywhere on Goozex that it has to be the "original" case.  Of course, I may be mistaken.  I am a newby on this site after all.

it does need to be the original case and artwork.  many movies do not have manuals or inserts, yes, but if the product did come with one at retail, it should be present for any full package listing.   the blockbuster case alone is grounds for neutral though.

i'll just give a neutral with a "comment".  not worth my time to pursue this for 100pts.

thanks for replys...

I was the seller in this case and resolved the issue with slacker4life less then a week after getting neutral feedback. Around this time I sent an email to Goozex support to see what their official stance was on sending out used DVD cases from Blockbuster. I received this message late last night:

Hello Mark,

Thank you for contacting Goozex. We understand your concern.
When you offer full package, you must include the original contents
that were present at the time of initial purchase. A blockbuster dvd
case is not part of the original contents, and warrants neutral
feedback. You should offer items with an aftermarket case as Disc
& Manual. This is outlined on the shipping page of the FAQ.
~The Goozex Team~

Hope this helps clarify things in the future.

^ Very interesting.  Nice to know...and it would have been nice to know this a while ago.  I just read the shipping FAQ from beginning to end and it does not say anything about Blockbuster cases.  It does talk about UPCs though, and all Blockbuster/Hollywood Video movies have different UPCs than their retail counterparts.
