I got matched with someone in Ontario that meets that criteria. He's been a member less than 2 weeks and the first 2 people he's sent games to have already been disabled. The third only has 1 trade received and the trade was completed in 2 days from the time his account was created. A reputable member from Canada has already sent him a game and gotten positive feedback though. But then I already accepted, and he's not disabled yet. I decided to not take any chances and bought delivery confirmation for the first time ever. $7.95 just for DC on top of the $2.00 it normally costs to mail a game. It looks like it requires a signature as well. Fun.

If I put my settings to accept trades with Canadians, obviously the only drawback is going to be shipping costs to send to Canada.  Is there any drawback to receiving a product from Canada?

It's cheaper for me to ship to Canada (I'm in Illinois) than it is to ship domestically.  The only drawback to Canadian trading is the extra shipping time (and dealing with strange Canadians and strange Canadian humor).  But if you're on Gooxez, it's implied that you have the patience of a Buddhist monk...

strange Canadian humor

Hey now, there are lots of people here who really hate Rick Mercer and Kids in the Hall.

I really appreciate you guys who choose to trade with Canada.  Obviously it makes a much bigger difference to us Canadians than it does to you.  Thanks for making Goozex a better place for us.

My only bad experience is that it seems that I've had a run of several Canadian traders who seem fine with getting stuff from the U.S., but are disinterested in sending to the U.S.  In my case, I have matched to Canadian traders only to have the trade time out.

I'd say this is isolated, but I think I'm something like 5 for 6 for Canadian  traders not coming through.  That , and i keep matching to the same guys.

Note that I'm not trying to categorize all Canadian traders in this way, but I would be interested in knowing if others have had similar experiences.

I have had the same thing happen with Americans.  I've been matched up with 7 or 8 over the past few weeks who have just let the games time out.

I had assumed (mistakenly, probably) that the primary motivation was the cost of sending to the U.S.  I should not have been so quick to make it sound like it was strictly something that only originated in the North.

I don't doubt that there are selfish individuals on both sides of the border.  Clearly, the motivation is to try to utilize the multi-national pool for requests, but not show the same courtesy for the items you offer.  I've considered going back to just U.S. only, but not because I'm unwilling to send to Canada;  I just don't like points tied up when I could be matching to folks that are willing to trade openly per their stated region.

Is there any drawback to receiving a product from Canada?  I've never gotten a game from Canada, anything unusual I should expect?

If you don't count the coating of maple syrup and Tim Horton's coupons, then no, nothing unusual. Big Smile

but seriosuly, I was afeared to open up trading at first but the cost really is less than to USA at the PO, you just have to fill out the customs form, which is a minor PITA.  last week, I had a run of 4-5 trades TO Canada in a row, which really boosted my point count, and my games would have  been just sitting here otherwise, probably. I also am open to Bermudas, but I don't think anyone actually lives there and uses Goozex.  some of the top reqyesters, magiic for instance are Canadian

I think the problems come from Ontario because of the high saturation of scrupleless Red Flag Deals users.
