Ok, so I've got a problem here. I installed C&C 3 and tried to start it up. I get this error message:

I have an ATI Radeon HD 4650, so I can definitely run the game. The hardware acceleration option is grayed out, so I can't change that. Any ideas?

Just click the picture if you can't read it due to cutoff.

Well...probably the first question to ask:  DO you have DX9 installed?  If you have gamed on this PC at all with a game from the past few years, it's rather likely you do, but it's also possible this is your first install, DX9 wants to be reinstalled (happens often) or some other nonsense.  I'd go ahead and just reinstall it if you can.

After that, go to AMDs website and get the latest drivers for your card, just for good measure.  Ideally this will take care of any 'hardware acceleration' problems it's worried about in the latter half of the message.

I've had a game or two send out similar messages to me in the past, and generally a reinstall of DX9....even though I had it already, often worked.  SupCom was one...for whatever reason sound wouldn't work until I reinstalled DX.

I actually have direct x 10, so would I still need to re-install dx9?
