They do not disappear unless if an acccount with points in it is closed or if you buy new products through goozex. I will give you an example. Say you trade a game worth 1000 points, you receive 1000 points and another user gets a game. Then lets say you decide for whatever reason you want to play that game again and trade for it again and by chance you trade with the user you traded the game originally to. But this time around the game is worth 750 points. You get the game you originally had plus an additional 250 points while the other user has no game and is down 250 point. You're account balace before was 1 game no points, his/her balance was 1000 points, now your balance is 1 game 250 points, and his/her's is 750 points no game. Even though the point value of the game has changed you both in the end have a total of 1 game and 1000 points. Hope this clears things up.

dinaboo:

So yeeeaaahhh...

After all my token-related bellyachin', I decided to check out the gift card sale, just in case. And lo and behold, the 100-token gift card was 50% off! JOY! So of course, I bought it, and am back up to 103 trade credits. Prepare for a bunch of games being moved from my hold list to my active list.

Anyhoo, I don't know if this was a response to my posts in this thread, or if it was in the Goozex master plan all along (just not in the email newsletter I received a few days ago), but either way, thank you!

Thanks for posting this.  The didnt originaly have the tokens on sale.  I dont even think they had a 100 token gift card.  I jumped on this though, thanks Goozex you guys just made my day.

I think it's kind of funny how much trouble some people are still having in grasping what constitutes a net loss of points for the system as a whole. Looking forward to picking up some cheap points after I get this week.

How long is this promotion going for? Until the 7th I hope as that is when I get my spendable paycheck.

I think the front page says until the 14th.

I am thinking about it, but at the same time I'm already sitting at 2050 points, with all the games I want on relatively long waits.  Maybe I shouldn't bother padding my point total further.

I think the biggest problem for me with this sale is that it discourages people from trading in newer games.

I think it would be in the community's best interest if goozex never sold 1000 points for less than what you can get for selling a game at gamestop or on ebay. Right now you can get $32 for MW2(360) on ebay. Selling it on goozex only nets you <$27.50 (less than because no tokens and you have to pay for shipping whereas on ebay the buyer does). Why would I trade in here?

If more people start to think like that, the game supply here will dry up, and you'll be left with thousands of points in your account with nothing to buy. At least they were cheap when you bought them.

That didn't happen the last two times this sale happened, I don't see why it would now.

I just traded out Bayonetta (360) and Army of Two 40th day (PS3 and 360) this week. The bonus points have been a huge stimulant to adding new games into the system.

Well Mafafu, you lost an opportunity to make money. You could have sold those elsewhere, bought the equivalent points here, and ended up with extra cash and extra tokens. Why didn't you? Whatever the answer to that question is, Goozex should be advertising THAT more, because I don't see it.

And TenTonHammer23,

yeah I was thinking after I posted... people have a short memory and don't think about how much points were or how much they will be in 9 months time, so this effect that I mention can only last as long as the promotion goes on for.

Mafafu, I misread your response. I thought 'promotion' instead of 'bonus points'. How much are the bonus points?

Well I tried to take the route of selling my Darksiders (PS3) on craigslist and then buying points here. But after 2 days of Posting Darksiders on CL for $40. I did not receive a single email. I think people are just not ready to spend cash on games. If I would have posted that I am trading Darksiders I bet I would have received 5 to 10 emails. So finally I traded it on Goozex to get the extra 200 points.

The 200 bonus points are a good incentive for me to burn through games that I don't plan on keeping for the long haul. I picked up a disk only Bayonetta and turned it around in about a week for 1200. It's pretty sweet for the sellers and good for the buyers waiting in line.

I suspect once we hit day 25, Mass Effect 2 will be flying ... or maybe that's just me hoping.

See, the way I always saw these promotions is they temporarily slowed down trading for titles in the lower end of the scale (300 pts and below), not at the upper end. The key word there is temporarily.

As someone who is primarily a low end buyer, well, the benefits of this still outweigh whatever transitional slowdowns they cause.
