I really don't think this has all that much effect on the points in the system because there's a complimentary program (the exchange) that takes these points right back out at about the same cost as people are buying them for.    2400 points costs $60 here, which is about what it's costing them to remove them.     If they get some good deals like buying a bunch of copies of MW2 for $40 when Amazon had a nice deal on them or something like that there could be more profit on their end but for the most part these programs are putting in and taking out points in a pretty revenue neutral fashion.

When they ran the first exchange beta though they kind of got ripped off.   They put the points into the system at $60 for 2400 just before it and then gave people new games for 1600 points.   I think they learned their lesson from that one, and they didn't really lose too much since quantities were so limited.   With them continuing to run these sales you can be sure that the exchange won't drop below 2400 points in the future if it does come back.

If I can round up some money I might buy some points but I really need trade credits more than I need points.

Both are on sale with the promotion. You can get those combo deals like 1000 pts and 5 tokens.

I know that but I am out of tokens and would like to buy them for half price without having to get so many points.

THIS. You can get points alone, and points with tokens. Why can't I get tokens without having to be saddled with additional points that I don't need (right now, I have over 13k points, and 3 tokens)? I can always replenish my points by trading more games, but the only way to reload my tokens is to buy them, which makes this kind of sale all the more important for tokens in particular.

BTW, yes I realize Goozex has been doing some awesome token-related promotions, which is great for many Goozex users, but since I am not a student, and I only buy games (not DVDs), I can't really take advantage. The one promotion I was looking forward to was a token-only option, and looks like I'm SOL. :(

My guess is that it will make its return once they finish selling a bunch of points 50% off.   Even if its not immediate, there's always a proven way for them to remove the points from the system.     Of course, they're also throwing a ton of points into the system with the 30 day bonuses and such, not sure how they'll fight that inflation without it costing them money.   We'll see...

I'm definitely buying some points.  It helps to support Goozex and my video game habits. =)

I just joined last week and bought $50 worth of points to start things off.  I'm wondering if I'm hosed for this sale because I can only buy $55 in a 30 day period.  When does the limit get lifted?  I have 3 trades shipped atm, and expect feedback any day.

I've sent 4 games and received positive feedback, and received two games, yet I still can only spend $55 every 30 days? What do I have to do to be able to spend more?

It's an investment, but you can buy 120 for $90. You save $30.

With 13K points, and your ability to always trade in more games, you shouldn't have a problem using 120 tokens.

Yes, I'm well aware of the everyday volume savings. But I shouldn't have to "invest" $90 at one time for game tokens to get a worse deal than for points or the points/tokens combo during a sale. My point is that the other forms of Goozex currency have sales where they can be bought for a significant discount which is much larger than the everyday, garden variety discount. I'm very patient (which is why I love Goozex), and I'm willing to wait quite a while for a token sale, but this seems to be the one exception on Goozex where patience is not rewarded. So I say again... Sad
