Renaissance 2K: devyanks90: i have to say that last night was a lot slower than MW2 night, but i got a much better spot (top 20 vs. low 100's) for ME2. It took me 12 minutes to get the instant match pop up. I am truly waiting for someone to figure out the javascript string for requesting a game. Chances are that they probably have, but sharing it with the universe would defeat the purpose of developing it in the first place.

It took me literally 3 minutes to find the components needed. If only i knew how to program a script.
Same problem here execept i got no were i waited for mass effect 2 and i didnt not even get no were site froze up got to work at 7.00 am now i am in the high 200,s for this game .i feel your pain i hate the fact you have to stay up till 1.00 and pray you crack top 20 people have to work there shpuld be a earlier time setup or a lottery system
It only took me about 6 minutes to get to the "Add to Requests" button, but after I pressed that, I had to wait over 45 minutes before it actually confirmed that it was added.
That says a lot when I was 6 minutes late for pressing Add to Requests, but I still managed to get 11th in line for MAG.

This is the only viable system I've heard. Obviously anything that is web based is going to crash when it's busier than expected. And people are going to make scripts to cheat the system etc...

Hey everyone,
First, we're sorry to BFZ and to everyone else that experienced horrible site interaction last night. It's obviously not our intention and we do recognize the server load issues (in particular early Tuesday mornings). A couple of points I'd like to address based on the comments:
1) We very much do care. As we have grown the community we have been more and more taken away from the forums to post on a regular basis. Everything we have in our product pipeline is to improve the service from a lot of different aspects. I hope the one impression we always give is that we're constantly improving the site for you.
2) Why queue vs. other ideas like the lottery? One goal we try to keep in check whenever making site changes is how will it work for the veterans and the new users. Do both extremes get a fair deal or does one benefit more than the other. From that stand point, the queue is a more fair system than most others and is why we use it along with places like Gamefly and Netflix.
More specifically my personal view on lotteries. I, Mark, don't like the idea of laying your position in the queue be based purely on "chance" that a user has no control over. In theory, you could end up consistently at the back of the queue or at the front, and neither would be fair. Don't know what the probability distribution curve will be, but I'd assume somewhere in the middle. It also would be a huge development and I think a lot of unknown scenarios might play out that we didn't have before.
Looking forward, one thing we're interested in is giving more weight to the wish list on pre releases. We don't want to be misleading here and the idea still needs to be worked on, so it's not something to expect in the short term (1-2 months)

Hi Mark,
I take it your complete lack of response about my offer means you don't like kids? I promise I'll make them wash their hands first.
Thanks,
Sterlingdax
Lotteries are no good ..........
It starts all nice and simple until They draw your name from a hat and then you get stoned to death or fed to a dragon or a demon takes your child away.
They made movies about it and I have seen them so therefore it must be true and it will happen. I put my name in a hat once in 3rd grade and I won a Choose your own Adventure book and then when I tried reading it I died -- 6x.
This is certainly not a coincidence
Pretty much,
Once he had a kid himself, he began to despise them.

I would like to propose a ban on any forum post relating to Shirley Jackson or her works

Mark, I think you're confusing chance with fairness. There is a chance to randomly be assigned far back in the queue due to a fair (read: each person has an equal chance to be the first person in line) lottery.

I think each person has an equal chance to be first in line with a queue system.

Mark/Jon/Zanna (if you're lurking out there);
I know someone ealier suggested possibly suspending the instant match feature for a period of time on release nights; if this is a possibility (probably isn't); it cuts through one more of the screens that is necessary to load which will at least give people a shot at clicking "Want it" and at least know their request is going through
