73 in Virginia Beach.. winds sustained 25-30 gusts to 40. Good weather to air out the house, I've been home sick with bronchitis.

Rear wheel drive is reserved for luxury/sport/muscle cars and older stuff (pre 1980's)

lol...certainly knocks the first vehicles I tackled the snow with out of the question (Plymouth Acclaim and Voyager).

kalar14: acsguitar: Bright and sunny in denver too! But only 19 Degrees. Not a cloud in the sky Much better than yesterday in Denver. It was much too cold for my California blood. :( Though as a foolish Californian I thought this is what it would be like all winter long when I first moved to Denver. I also envisioned snow days all the time...which as you said above never happens. Though I have had one since I work at a school...I guess working at a school is just about the only way to get a snow day in Denver.

Yea seriously it was 70 on thanksgiving and a week later it was 0. Funny Colorado weather. Peopel don't realize that we get 300 days of sunshine a year though. Did you get off during the 17 inch storm in october? I got a late start woo :(
Also you know it's cold when my Saint Bernard, which is basically a Yeti, limps into the house because her paws are cold after 5 minutes
NINJA EDIT: Since I see car talk. i have a Jeep Wrangler. Fun little snow mobile although It's not any good on ICE but it's super easy to get out of deep stuff and ditches.

Yeah that 17 inch snow storm is when we got a day off. Actually a day and a half I think. It was nice.

When did they start making trucks FWD?
I used to have an '86 T-Bird and the ass-end of that thing used to swing out even in the rain. I used to put (6) 30 - 40 pound cement blocks in my trunk for better traction in the winter.
It actually snowed here in south texas the other day... Driving to work it was still rain and there were already school closings... it turned to snow but it wasn't sticking as it melted when it hit the anything and I recieved word my work was closing at 2.... I left work, picked up my kids from school to play in the snow as there was about an inch in the grass but it still would melt on the roads. everything was melted by morning.
Having lived in Iowa for a few years, I can hadnle the snow, but these people down here were like it was the end of the world.
My snow attack vehicle, right down to the model and color! I was quite pumped when the commercial came out, even though I don't really care for WoW.
If it looks too nasty, I just slap it into 4x4 and lol my way past the scared commuters.

Aren't most trucks four wheel drive? (Not too familiar with trucks, I drive a Mazda subcompact, which is FWD)

Most trucks have a switch to change from 2 to 4 wheel drive.
I love western NY weather. At least 22 inches as of now. At least we got 2 snow days out of it.

I'm pretty sure it's still an option on many trucks. A buddy of mine with a truck a few years older than mine doesn't have it.
My switch isn't perfect either. There's a central hub on my two front tires that you can roll to free (tires roll freely I assume..) or Lock (locks them in preparation for 4x4). Then I use the second stickshift in the truck to pick 4x4. Newer trucks literally have a switch...without all that getting out of the truck to roll hubs nonsense.
The difference between 2 wheel and 4x4 is night and day though. I don't know if I'd ever go back.

Never driven an AWD is it the best of both FWD and RWD? Or something different?
It's a bit hard to explain. Obstacles that I cannot conquer in 2 wheeled drive with the truck are immediately quelled once I unleash the 4 wheels of fury. Snow covered roads become no longer burdensome. I feel powerful!
