You also realize he directed 2 solid episodes of the office in 2007. Why people say this guy is overrated confuses me. I would definitely invest in one of his films. The guy is creative, unique and awesome.
I kinda liked the dying scene of Pee Wee the vampire in the Buffy Movie...
From just that list, I would say:
Dollhouse- Miss
Dr. Horrible- Hit
Buffy Movie- Hit (Not his fault, I give nearly all the credit for me liking that movie to Paul Reubens)
Buffy Series- Way big miss. So much a miss it's not even in the same direction as the general target
Firefly- Hit
Angel- Miss. A spin off of a show I didn't like, but it was even cornier with worse costumes and even shoddier acting.
Firefly was okay, I can sort of see why people like it but I didn't shed a single tear over it being canceled. Basically everything else I've seen by him was lame. Especially Dollhouse which is just fundamentally stupid. But there's a lot of stuff on television much worse, and at least he seems to try.
What I really hate about him though, is the way he spells his name, like he's too unique to use a boring regular name like the rest of us.
My love of Firefly is based more on the amazing ensemble cast than on Whedon. I would love to see that group work together in the future. And I've already stated that I think Nathan Fillion is a highly underrated actor.

Serenity was great. I loved that it finally wrapped up at least part of the storyline. Yes, it left a huge gap of time between the end of the series and the movie but I believe that was purposely done in the hopes that he would have the resources to create a middle film or possibly a second season. For several years I kept hoping that they were going to bring that show back just like I still hope that the rumors of an Arrested Development movie are not a sinister joke by the writers.
