Horrible New Xbox 360 Game Cases

Many people in this thread have a crux in their argument that hinges on the cases actually being flimsy and breaking. Sure, they don't feel sturdy... but I have yet to see a broken one or hear complaints about broken ones.

Until we start seeing a rash of broken game cases, I don't really mind the new packaging.

...and how the hell did "liberal wussies" come up? Surely the CEOs that okayed this development are fat cat conservatives.

I just compared some PS3 to Xbox cases.   

Xbox cases are a little larger - about 7 1/2" x 5 1/4" vs 6 3/4" x 5 1/4" for PS3 cases.  

Despite this, the Xbox cases actually weigh about 60 grams vs 75 grams for a PS3 case.     They could make the cases 3/4" shorter and house the disc and manuals just fine like the PS3 and save about 10% in materials and weight.     That would make them almost an ounce lighter than PS3 cases, which to me is a benefit.   They're sturdy enough, and 1 oz on every package shipped adds up.   Plus, it's more eco friendly on that end as well since the post office uses less gas by not having to haul as much weight.

That would have been my idea to save on material costs.   Either way, lighter cases are better.    Can anyone get the weight on these new cases?

Of course, but liberall wussies gave them a way to do it without saying "we're cheap and are trying to fatten our bottom line at your expense".

And if you feel the new cases, they bend much more easily than the old ones - notice I said bend instead of crack. Again, I won't pass judgment unless a rash of broken cases occurs, which doesn't seem to be happening.

Even though they do bend, the outer edges of the cases are thinner than the originals.  Making them easier to break.

Have we actually seen an increase in the number of broken cases through the mail, or are we all just blowing smoke because we enjoy complaining?

I've gotten three or four of these new cases in the mail so far and not a one has had any issues.

Exactly! I just sent a tin case game in a bubble mailer to someone and they complained it was dented. USPS is going downhill fast.

These cases aren't bothering me. And until the cases start constantly breaking during trades, this is a non-issue

I traded one of my games with this kind of case, and user received it a bit broken, when I had it in like new condition, but on the upside, the case lightens the shipping weight so that I like, but to prevent damage to disc, a simple precaution is to have bubble wrapping and and put it flat on top of the disc inside the case, so it doesn't fall off, the case might get a beating but the game will remain secured.

Yeah, I was stoked when I bought S. Darko a few months back, and it came with that crappy case.

My one was broken as well! Same deal in the Modern Warfare 2 360.
