I was matched and sent out two trades to a Canadian user on October 29.  Sent a PM to the member yesterday, and they have not been received.

This is a long time user, and I have little to no doubt that he's telling the truth that the trades have not arrived at this time.

Seeing that it's an international trade that does not have delivery confirmation available as an option, do I have any recourse if the Post Office lost the package?  I put both games into one package, so it'll be a double loss... =/  This was one of my first international trades, and at the time, I didn't know that I could use the customs number for "tracking" purposes, so I don't have this information available.

Any feedback/suggestions/advice/help/words of comfort would be greatly appreciated...

The customs ID number on the receipt can be used as proof of shipping.  I always keep my receipt from the PO.  Also I've had US to Canada packages take 20 days to get there.  So it could still be in transit.

That's the thing - it was one of my first international shipments.  The PO near me doesn't allow me to keep the customs receipt - I remember trying to leave with it, and they were like, "No, you can't take that"...

Since it was my first trade, I didn't think to write down the number either... =(  Ever since then, I've written it down, but I guess I just wasn't thinking that day.

I guess I can only hope it arrives on the 20th day (today).

I have a game coming to me in the same boat at the moment.

Sometimes things get tied up at the border and it takes a few more days. It sucks, but they get here.

Once I sent two games to the states at the SAME time and one took nearly two weeks longer to get there. So unfortunately, there's no rhyme nor reason to it..

That's a bummer.   And I was just thinking about opening my region to Canada.

I've also heard from my postman that I talk to regularly that there have been some very recent customs changes that are slowing things down, added on top of the earlier than expected holiday rush on the post.

Your receipt from the PO should have the customs form # on it

According to the date you gave that makes 12 business days (Nov.11th is closed for all gov. stuff). Usually it takes 7-14 business days (thats the average) so you are still in there no worries. It all depends on your location and if there is delays at customs which is standard for everything but letters. I've shipped and received stuff that took only  4 business days.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

DrJ - don't let this scare you from opening up trading to our Northernly neighbors - my trading experience as a general rule has been very positive (aside from the slow shipping times)

I just received two negatives for these trades...  what should be my next step?  I don't want these negatives impacting my feedback...

Obviously, if I never sent the games, I would deserve the negative feedback, but since I did send the games, I don't want to be screwed out of games AND points...

I dont know, magiic is a pretty shady guy I wouldnt trust him. Pizza

On a serious note sometimes customs does delay how long it takes.  Sometimes I get games fromt the US that take 5 days then sometimes I get games that take just over 3 weeks.  All hope is not lost.  Dispute the negative and that will give the games more time to arrive.

your PO may have that customs form on file, maybe call them, let them know the date and roughly the time and address and they can probably look it up and make you a copy of it, My PO has done that for me before, but it was a money order receipt not customs form, but I do beleive they keep them on file

LOL, trust someone whose username implies trickery and sleight of hand? Wink

No worries, I know you haven't received the games, just wanted to make sure I don't end up doing something that will prevent you from updating the negative feedback.

I'll go ahead and dispute the trades in order to give the shipment more time as Killmak suggested.

Thanks everyone.
