winch one should i pick up i never played the 1st or the 2nd
If you haven't played either and you want to I would go for the collection on the PS3. Both of them on a PS3 disc you really can't go wrong.

$39.99 for both games in HD with trophies = Win.

Definitely go with the collection on PS3 if you haven't played either.
Hi-def versions of both games with trophy support while playing them in order for the complete story. I'm not a huge fan of the GoW series, but I did like how they integrated their take on Greek mythology into the narrative of the first two games.
Unless you have a really expensive TV and a lot of money to burn I would goozex the originals on PS2, there's really not enough of a difference to be worth the higher price when you can get them dirt cheap goozed. Trophies are stupid and a waste of time if you ask me, and GoW collection's trophies all sound really easy from what I remember, save a couple.

Their 'take' on Greek mythology, which is as accurate to the original as Xenosaga is to judeo-christianity. Entertaining though.
I would definitely go with the collection. It's all on 1 disc, plus trophies and higher res graphics.
Definitely PS3 version!
I played the PS2 version of GoW on my 80 gig PS3 about 4 months ago, just before the collection was announced. it was quite playable and had no real issues, but I am going to get the collection for my playthrough of 2 (I beleive I have turned into a bit of a trophy whore). If you don't care about HD graphics or trophies, then the PS2 versions would probably suit you fine.

Agreed on all accounts (except I never actually beat 1). I had gotten GoW via Goozex, and bought 2 new for about $5, but when I heard of the collection, I just sent them both out in anticipation of it. Both games, on 1 disc, with HD graphics, trophy support, and fully compatible with all PS3s for $39.99 was too much to overlook. Since I'd already enjoyed what I had played, buying the collection was easy. Getting it for $30 via Amazon made it even easier. I can't wait for it to arrive.
If you're not worried about trophies or HD though, I can at least attest that GoW worked well as I played it, and GoW II loaded well. With a BC PS3 I don't think you'd have a problem with the older versions.
