any help would be useful just 20 gb would do me just fine do not not want to buy a elite but i like a hard drive for dlc and some live games and to use netflix streaming but i also hear you do not need the hard drive to stream to the console
not sure about the netflix capability... my recommendation is to check Craigslist people unload the 20 gig ones fairly cheap there from time to time ($20 or less)

I just got one from Amazon Marketplace. They run about $30 for a 20 gb hdd. Just a headsup as i just found this out yesterday. Even though it's a 20 GB drive, when you look at the memory info on your xbxo it'll say 13.9 GB max, 13.9 GB free. Apparently 6.1 GB is reserved for system functions liek BC, etc.

A good portion of that is just space "lost" during formatting the drive, due to the way manufacturers measure space and the way your computer (the xbox) measures space (1000 bytes vs 1024 bytes).

Yeah but not 6.1 gigs of it. That's almost 1/3 of the drive. the 1000 vs 1024 loss is like a coupel percent loss.
