Surf II

I have an idea for one of my favorite bad movies, but I'm sure most people have already seen it :p

Wow a movie where Eddie Deezen the essential 80's nerd gets his juice spiked a long time ago by a bunch of surfers decides to take revenge by spiking their drinks and turning them into some of the dumbest zombies ever. Watch the exciting 5 minute straight eating nasty stuff off the ground scene. Watch the 2 stoned main surfer characters get completely blown up with 2 hot topless girls only to walk away scratch free set to the theme from Hawaii 5-0 and Beach Boy tunes. This was a great first pick to start.  8/10

Oddly enough this was the 2nd cheesy Eddie Deezen film I saw this week. The first was called Laserblast from Mystery Science Theater and its currently streaming free on Netflix but I got it sent to me from Goozex a few weeks ago Beer.

watched the clip generously provided by Chambered (i think) was only 9 min long.  I want you to dust the beach for prints was pretty funny, a little gratuitous (female) nudity (gracias).  I do not indeed have a vhs or beta player anymore, haven't for years, though you can pry my dvds and player from my cold dead hands.  HI Def isn't THAT much different.

let me know when you want to start watching GOOD movies, I'll be back.

I haven't seen a lot of older movies, especially 80s movies, so this sounds like a good way to catch up. I'll definately have to check this movie out. I saw some of the clips on youtube and I think I may have watched a small portion of this a long time ago. I wonder if I can find this at a library near me to watch it in better quality....

I skipepd aroudn the video clip and watched about a totla of 15 seconds. It's like a USA UP All Night with Gilbert Gottfried type movie.

No one said all the movies would be good.

Even if they were, it doesn't mean you would like them yourself. You ranted about not liking Raging Bull, which a lot of people love. Surf II is one movie that igorponweed really loves, so that's why he picked it.

Once again, just because he enjoyed it, doesn't mean you will.

(By the way, don't watch Taxi Driver. You probably wouldn't like it and you strike me as sort of an angry individual, so watching Robert De Niro shave his head and buy lots of guns might not be the best idea Pizza)

I'll join up.

Seems like it would be more accessible if we were going to try to stick to stuff on Netflix instant watch (or for free, like this first movie).

I felt that if this was a requirement it'd severely limit the amount of films we could watch. For example, out of IMDB's top 20, only 3 of the films are on IW.

Plus, enough advance notice will be given for you to be able to get the movie on time.

Is Surf II in the IMDB's Top 20?  [pizza slice]

I like this idea a lot...I think I can squeeze 90 minutes out of my week to watch Surf 2.

I would definitely say that thousands of movies doesn't "severely limit" the amount we could watch. Perhaps severely limit the amount of "top" movies we could watch, but most of those are films which anyone belonging to this club has already seen.

Not saying it should be a requirement (because you're right, it does limit), but I'm just hoping that's what most people stick to choosing (or, again, what igorponweed did in choosing a free one - just makes it way easier).

On a slightly unrelated note (#9 in IMDBs top 250? laughable), I just re-watched The Dark Knight with a more critical eye and where I used to be a fanboy of the movie, I am now on the fence. It is not a well made film, however fun it may be. I hope this ends up being one of the movies so that I can give my reasons why.

Yeah, The Dark Knight is really overrated and while I expect to get flamed from saying this, Heath Ledger's death definitely had something to do with the popularity. Though he is the best part of the movie.

I find Burton's Batman with Michael Keaton much better. Jack Nicholson is a better Joker and Keaton's a much cooler Batman.
