Everyone is mentioning the console and sitting on the couch. Just hook your computer up to your TV and buy wireless keyboard, mouse, and gamepad...works just the same.

Ever since I bought my huge HDTV which makes the TV to PC connection a cakewalk, I've been dying to try this.  Unfortunately, until I get a nicer TV in the bedroom, my wife probably wont stand for it...lol.

This is what I did to alleviate this issue. I wall mounted the TV above my desk. I bought a 2nd smaller monitor (22"). I usually play on the 42" tv, but if the wife absolutely has to watch something, Ill pop the show on the TV and game on the 22".

Nice!  Unfortunately, my gaming rig is on one end of the house, the big TV the other.  I must bring them together!!!

No doubt..my TV, PS3, and Cable box are all on my computer desk..My wife gave me a LOT of leeway on setting up the "main" living area...of course, I gave her the 2nd living room which was turned into a library..

I'm going to be doing that next week.  I need to get a new $4 hdmi cable, as all of mine are in use, but I plan on plugging my laptop into the tv for some L4D2 action.  With 2 42" screens to choose from, even if someone's watching TV or playing games, I'm still good to go.

I usually just go to a guy I found on craigslist a couple years ago.  Gold plated hdmi cable for $4 for a 6 foot, $9for a 10 foot, and $16 for a 20 foot.

I've moved since I last bought one from him, but my best friend, who's going to be here for thanksgiving, lives less than a mile from him.  So I'll have him pick me up a longer one, and then bring it with him.  Will work out good since I won't be picking up my copies of L4D2 until black friday.

Half-life

Sam and Max (The original)

At least one game from the You don't know Jack series (except Sports, Movies, or TV)

I still play through the original half-life at least once every other year.  The Lucasarts SCUMM games were so much fun, but I think Sam and Max was the best.  I do love the Monkey Island games, but after playing through the first Monkey Island with the new updated graphics, I found it didn't hold up as well as the newer Monkey Island games.

And who doesn't love an irreverent party game for up to three players?  While I always found the "three player" limit odd, I guess it made sense at the time.  It did get a bit crowded around the keyboard.

I would certainly agree with the aforementioned X-COM, Tribes and Thief series, as they are all fantastic.  I'd also include:

System Shock 2

No One Lives Forever

Command & Conquer

Team Fortress 2

Dungeon Siege I & II - a couple of my favorite co-op hack-n-slash games this side of Diablo 2.

Going old school PC text and graphic adventure games: anybody remember a game called "Eric the Unready"?  It was hysterical.  And you could type in almost ANYTHING you wanted and it would seem to have a response for it.
