I'm with Maxim, and have done it for the past 3 years. Last year though I just showed up right when doors opened, and still got everything I wanted. One year I just did an all nighter, and my fiance and I just cuddled under blankets and watched movies on our portable DVD player.

This year, I'll probably just show up when doors open again for the DVDs and I might get a BluRay player* and BluRays. Oh, and Amazon.

*Anyone hear about the best BluRay player deal? <100 would be ideal.

The only thing about Best Buy is that you have to be in line at midnight if you want to get the really good doorbusters like the laptops.

Must be nice to live in a tiny town with a Best Buy where you can get there at Midnight and still have a good place in line.

Last year, in my medium sized town (~60,000 residents), people were lining up outside Best Buy on Thanksgiving morning. By Black Friday morning, the line was well over 1/4 mile long. And the deals weren't even that great for Best Buy last year.

I'm not going out for anything for myself this year. I'll buy all my stuff online. The gf still has to make her way through the ads, though. We'll see if she sees anything she needs.

The only deals that look tempting at the Best Buy PS3 bundle (2 games + system), and the Walmart PS3 bundle (2 older games + a blu ray movie + system). I'm obviously not bothering with Best Buy, and I expect Amazon or Newegg to have a deal similar to that bundle, anyway.

It's not really a small town. The one I go to is actually on a major highway. I don't think they allow people to line up until after a certain time on Thursday night/Friday morning. I think it was done for the employees and shopper's protection and because people waiting outside is a liability. I'm not sure what that time actually is because I've never been there early enough. I got on line at around 3AM and the line wrapped around the front, side, a long fence near the back, and half way to the back of the building. There were a few cops there to make sure everything went smoothly and it did. The police presence was good to see.

However, I just found one of the black friday ad sites and I didn't really see anything interesting at Best Buy except for a few movies. I just might not go as early this year so I think I might go to the Old Navy doorbuster first and maybe visit the other stores later.

I don't know if you'd call it the best blu ray player deal, decrypded, as it's not the best player, but walmart's normally priced $128 will be $78 for black friday.

Thanks Maskim. Even if it isn't the best quality, $78 makes it really enticing as long as it plays BluRays @ 1080.

I saw this other cool package at Sears where its a 5.1 sound system and a BluRay player for $399. I've wanted surround for a long time now, so I might jump on that... though $400 still seems high as I don't have much money as of now. If it was $250 I'd jump on it immediately, though that may be asking a bit much.

I was looking at that, too.  It's just more than I want to spend.  I already have the ps3, so I don't need another blu ray player, and I'm worried about the kids breaking the speakers.  I think I'm just going to go for a soundbar and use an old subwoofer from a friend with that.  They have a pretty nice VIZIO soundbar which has excellent ratings (4.5/5 and 94/100 from what I've seen) for like 125 at walmart too.  That's probably what I'm going to get, as the cheapest that one goes for anywhere else, including amazon is 150, so if that's something that would interest you, you could pick up that and a blu ray player on black friday for $200.

My wife will be going out for a GPS for me and possibly Lego Rock Band.  She loves it.  I attempted to do it one year, but was too tired to get up at like 2 or 3 and just said "F" it.  Don't imagine I will be doing it anytime soon.

Last year some folks were lining up at stores at 8 pm the night before.  I'd rather spend that time with my family enjoying a nice Thanksgiving dinner and dessert as opposed to trying to save a few bucks.

i heard that there giving Lego rock band demo not the official game

I was really confused, until I realized the typo/weird slip. Strange, because I've never actually had a subscription to that.

Black Friday sounds kinda of fun, minus the crazy shoppers, crowds, packed wal-marts and the part that requires me going into society. :/

Amazon's Black Friday is my kind of Black Friday

I go to Amazon.com make my purchases. Then get off my computer and go about my business laughing at everyone who actually goes to a B&M store.

Yeah, I was going to simply write Maxim but figured you wouldn't notice it unless I somehow exaggerated it.

Though this did help me realize were Maskim name possibly came from.

As for Black Friday, I haven't exactly participated in the past 2, and lately I'll just ask whoever's going in my family (usually my brother) to bring me something if he can find it (which so far hasn't happened).

When I go there aren't a buch of Crazy people who will trample you underfoot while running to get there Children Some toy they won't even play with. I love going shopping though, get my shopping done and possibly find something that has a good deal for me. (Like L4D2, possibly AC2, and Hopefully one of the Newer NBAor NCAA B-Ball games)
