Wow, I mean this is the first time I'll be doing this, and all my other married guy friends, say its a nightmare. 2hrs waiting in line for a free pack of batteries LOL. Yet and still, as hard headed as I am, I'll still go out there, but rest assured, I won't be rude or frantic like the majority of shoppers, I'm not going "shopping" I'm going "to Buy"... Wish everyone the best of luck on black friday.
Side bar- I only "shop" on cyber Monday. But this year, I've noticed Ip addresses, Firewalls, and high faults on computers recently.. Coincidence?

I waited until sat to go pick one up, No crowd, $30, no problems.
I might try to get the Lego Rockband game at Old Navy. Since the Old Navy is inside the mall, I might check out some deals at the stores around there like Sears. If Best Buy has some good deals, I might check them out too. The only thing about Best Buy is that you have to be in line at midnight if you want to get the really good doorbusters like the laptops. Otherwise, you'll end up waiting in line at the back of the store only to have someone offer to sell their voucher once you finally get to the front :(.
Where are you guys finding these black friday deals? Can anyone suggest a reliable and safe site to check them out?
G-Nitro: Maskim: There was one elderly greeter that made the news regarding that. It's not like it's a widespread problem. It's like people over reacting to swine flu, because its killed nearly 1000 people in America so far. Until it kills the 36,000+ that normal seasonal flu does in America every year, it's not worth worrying about. If one person dies during a sale, that's a tragedy, and those responsible, caught up in their mob mentality should feel remorse, and face some type of punishment. However, for those who played no hand in that tragedy, at most they should be more aware, and are completely unaffected by it, other than stores hopefully having better systems in place for safety. I'd be willing to bet that more Walmart employees died that day to to traffic accidents on their way to work, disease, or natural causes, than did due to the black friday sale. It wasn't just an elderly greeter. This guy was only 34. http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/11/28/2008-11-28_worker_dies_at_long_island_walmart_after.html One death is too many because of great deals. No one should have to die because people can't curb their materialistic obsessions to act properly on Black Friday.

Still, that's different than people dying every year. People do get injured every year though. That's why I didn't feel like going to Walmart the other morning and am thankful for your posts that morning.
Anyone try price adjustment on black friday at Best Buy?
I'm thinking of buying L4D2 on grey Thursday and come back on black Friday. (noonish after the charlie brown cloud of rage disappears)
Doing a price adjustment. Will this work?

Not likely, since it's a doorbuster and not a sale. BTW, Gray Thursday is generally called Thanksgiving. Good luck finding a Best Buy open on that one.

Walmart has changed its policy due to that death last year. They are now keeping stores open 24 hours, so instead of lining up outside the store and having a mad dash when it opens, you can go in anytime starting thursday morning and line up in the section of your choice. So no camping outside in freezing weather necessary.
Here's the story.
I haven't decided if I'm going to participate in black friday yet. We usually head out around 3 or 4am, depending on when stores are opening. I hate the cold and couldn't wait outside overnight. But I could camp overnight inside a walmart! haha I'm also one of the idiots who thinks Black Friday is fun.
Being just shy of 25, I've yet to have a job that ALLOWED employees to take off Black Friday...
McDonald's: Tons of people coming through for a quick breakfast.
Army: All that warfighting nonsense.
Computer shop: People are TOTALLY GOING TO BE KNOCKING OUR SMALL SHOP'S DOOR DOWN!!! *cricket* *cricket*
Liquor Distributor (current): Actually, policy is that there are no days off in Oct, Nov, or Dec....so Black Friday is surely out. At least Black Friday IS a busy day for us.
...I don't know if I'd bother with these sales though. Waking up super early for a couple of bucks off? Granted, some of the deals ARE good, but I can shop from the comfort of my cubicle here, online...lol.

1. Best Buy isn't open on Thanksgiving
2. Best Buy does not price match anything on Black Friday or the following Saturday.
Your best bet is to see if L4D2 goes on sale at Best Buy.com and take the $1.99 hit for shipping.
Or price match it at walmart, since their black friday ad begins with them toting their price match policy.
My wife will be going out for a GPS for me and possibly Lego Rock Band. She loves it. I attempted to do it one year, but was too tired to get up at like 2 or 3 and just said "F" it. Don't imagine I will be doing it anytime soon.
Last year some folks were lining up at stores at 8 pm the night before. I'd rather spend that time with my family enjoying a nice Thanksgiving dinner and dessert as opposed to trying to save a few bucks.
Zenverse:The only thing about Best Buy is that you have to be in line at midnight if you want to get the really good doorbusters like the laptops.
Must be nice to live in a tiny town with a Best Buy where you can get there at Midnight and still have a good place in line.
Last year, in my medium sized town (~60,000 residents), people were lining up outside Best Buy on Thanksgiving morning. By Black Friday morning, the line was well over 1/4 mile long. And the deals weren't even that great for Best Buy last year.
I'm not going out for anything for myself this year. I'll buy all my stuff online. The gf still has to make her way through the ads, though. We'll see if she sees anything she needs.
The only deals that look tempting at the Best Buy PS3 bundle (2 games + system), and the Walmart PS3 bundle (2 older games + a blu ray movie + system). I'm obviously not bothering with Best Buy, and I expect Amazon or Newegg to have a deal similar to that bundle, anyway.
