How true - I was talking about this exact same situation last night, and we share the same thoughts.

The poor guy was simply opening the doors and he got trampled to death - there is absolutely no excuse in the world that can justify behavior like that, especially not a low-quality DVD player for $20.

With luck, those will be available online, and from Amazon, for the same price!

Meh, such is the way of the world.  People have been killing for greed since long before recorded history.  At least it wasn't an intentional murder, like the countless ones you see in the media over the menial $25 that was in a convenience store register.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, or anything less than a tragedy, that it happened.  Looking objectively though, that one unneeded death (unless you are personally connected to it, such as you lost a son or father) means nothing.  That one lost life is of no more value than all the others that are lost daily to meaningless causes such as political ambitions, war, greed, lust, or jealousy.

A family friend died this past week, and it's sad, but other than taking some time to go show respect and mourn, it's not like life has changed or slowed down, because of it.

But if you had the chance, despite being only a few, wouldn't you want to prevent those uneeded deaths from ever happening?

Why let this "over exposed" tragedy off as "just another casualty", just because there are greater casualties that don't recieve media attention?

A tragedy is a tragedy, no matter how large or small.

If it recieves attention that will prevent it from happening again -> I'm all for that.

There's no point in arguing about it.  Although I agree with your summation, in part, I wouldn't consider doing anything about it, or being upset or worried by it integral at all.

I'm not really into the Black Friday thing. I do almost all of my shopping online now. I might do the Old Navy thing for Lego Rock Band though. Even then I'm not going to wade through crowds just for that.

Free Lego Rock Band is going to be my first stop.  After that, I don't know.  K Marts got a couple decent things, like a 4 gig sd card for like 8 or something, and L4D2 for 40.  Target has the new TMNT wii game for 27.  Once all the remaining ads are out I'll narrow down what's next after Old Navy.  It's nice that the Lego Rock Band can be scored nice and early at 3 so there's plenty of time to get to another store.

Same here.  The holidays are great when it comes to family and friends but I just can't stand what it does to people as far as shopping and greed goes.  The wife still does the Black Friday thing but it's mostly for the outlets since we live near them.  Her friends and her will stay up all night, go out at like 2am for the best deals and then sleep it off the next day.  Kinda works out for me though since I get some good game time that next Saturday while she's sleeping hehe.

Thanks again for Brutal Legend Hippie, it's better than I thought it was gonna be Yes

Let me reminded everyone that this thread is for discussion of Black Fridays doorbuster deals, not your personal opinion on the merits of the shopping frenzy. Keep it on topic please.

I wouldn't hit the pavement for that.  Your better off hitting up amazon for cheap sd cards. Shipping offsets the cost a little but still winds up being pretty cheap

There's not really that much to get excited over this year from what I've seen.

I find it rather poignant how one of Best Buy's big "door busters" is a free cell phone with a 2 year contract --

-- yes, because I just can't find that kind of a deal anywhere else any time of the year, it's just so amazing!

But wait! What was it Staples or OfficeDepot or something offering $5 snuggies and slapchops?! THAT'S AN AMAZING DEAL!! You know you want your backwards bathrobe and hunk of plastic!

There's some decent deals on TVs, but nothing to write home about. The real deals are one Video Games and Blu-rays.

Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind for $13 at Target?

Monsters vs.Aliens for $10 and V for Vendetta for $8 at Best Buy?

Those are all the blus, BTW. Yeah, Blu-ray is just so EXPENSIVE.

I'm not sure what Amazon is going to do for Black Friday this year, but being that last year they had Transformers blu for $10, Iron Man and Kung Fu Panda for $15, and select DVD titles for $2, I am rather excited to see what they come up with.

With the way the rest of the bunch is undercutting blu-ray prices, I wouldn't be surprised to see titles like V for Vendetta and 2001: A Space Odyssey for $5 on Amazon BF.

It's gotten to the point where no matter what you do, the best deals are online, usually on Amazon -- so why leave home? It's safer, it's warmer, and there's better deals!

For the latest news on Games, Movies, and everything geeky!

Not a problem it was a ton of fun just short and I didn't really get into the multiplayer.
