I posted this on another forum and thought it'd be laughed at but it was very well recieved, especially by people who say they aren't too quick to aim and are having trouble in multiplayer. Feel free to use up  a class slot and go crazy!

My Current "Assassin" Class set up:

Primary Weapon: Sub Machine Gun (Currently P90 - Red Dot Sight attached)
Secondary Weapon: Handgun (Currently .44 Magnum - no attachments unlocked yet)
Equipment: Semtex Grenade
Special Grenade: Smoke Grenade
Perk 1: Marathon (Pro Level) Unlimited Sprint (Pro add-on: Climb obstacales faster)
Perk 2: Lightweight (Pro Level) Faster Run Speed (Pro add-on: Faster aiming after a sprint)
Perk 3: Commando (Pro Level) Increased Melee Distance (Pro add-on: No falling damage)

Here's how I play. The unlimited sprint and faster movement speed keeps you moving fast, use it to your advantage. Dont take the direct path anywhere. The point to how I play is getting behind the enemy team (I play primarily Team Deathmatch). Once I get behind where their players are, I try to find strays and knife them.

Pro level Marathon is useful in climbing up onto ledges, boxes, whathaveyou but I don't see a difference in climbing ladders. I'm not certain that ladders are included with this perk. Marathon's usefulness is Moderate. Lightweight's Perk isn't as useful as the other two since I rarely use my guns (see below). Lightweight's Pro usefulness is Low. Commando Pro Level is really useful. A lot of times when you drop down from a ledge you take a small or large amount of damage, this can be the difference of getting hit by a bullet and being able to get to cover or just getting taken out. If you are up high and see someone below you, with this perk at Pro you can drop right down without penalty and take em out. Commando's Pro usefulness is High.

When you use the melee attack, you do not show up on the map so unless the team you are going against is using Voice Chat and are good at team work, you can get behind a group of 2-3 guys and knife them all without being noticed.

Use your Semtex if you see a guy run ahead past you and you don't really want to get in close for fear of being caught by another player. Try to get close enough to aim the grenade at him, if it hits, it sticks on him and takes him down and possibly other players too, if they're close.

The Smoke Grenade is my diversion. I use it in an area where I've recently seen an enemy pop up on the radar. Drop it down (preferably from a high vantage point) and watch for curious or reckless enemies. Used correctly, it can be very effective. Not to mention the good cover it can give you on maps like Highrise where things can get tight and you need to get moving.

I only use my guns when I miss a melee attack. There are times when you go in for a knife swipe and miss. If the person you are after knows you are there and you miss, you need to be ready to shoot because there's a small amount of time you have to wait to be able to attack again. It's not long at all, but it's long enough that if you miss and you are noticed, you are probably going to die. That's where your speed comes in handy too. When you attack someone, keep moving don't stop. If you stop and you missed, you're a sitting duck, if you are moving and miss you can spin around and fire your gun or find cover. A lot of times if I miss, I keep moving to a room or some area with cover and wait a second. If the guy isn't immediately rushing into the room after you, he's probably cautiously stalking you. Have yourself ready to melee attack at anytime.

Remember, hallways and small rooms are your best friends with this spec. The less amount of space between you and the guy you are after, the better. Open rooms and being outside keeps you quite vunerable to enemy fire.

Oh and something else to watch for is when you use your smoke grenades, be careful to go around them and not through them. It's funny, I notice a lot of panic from people when a smoke grenade goes off. It seems like anyone in the area immediately throws their grenades and special grenades inside them. Walking into the smoke is bad. Toss it and watch around it for movement. Sometimes you lure people in. Sometimes people just ignore it.

Try it out and let me know what you think. Again, this isn't an easy class by any means, but it sure is fun to play.

^^^Sounds fun. Ever try the same setup but with Ninja and Coldblooded? A siilenced weapon might also be a good addition.

Haven't gotten fear enough to try this, but I will at some point.

Given my feelings for the title, it'll be some time (if ever) that I try it, but it does sound similar to how I occassionally played in COD4.

Perks like UAV Jammer and that one that made you nearly silent, coupled with silenced weapons often made you a force to be reckoned with on COD4.  It's amazing how often people rely on the overhead radar to find their next engagement.  These new perks sound right up my alley and must be a blast to play.

I second the notion on that Coldblooded perk if it does in fact negate that heartbeat sensor.

The Ninja skill negates the Heart Beat sensor, Cold Blooded keeps you off UAV and you aren't seen by aircrafts. They are two different perk lines so you can have both on, thats how my sniper is spec'd and with a silencer on the barrel so he's more or less undetectable. I like having faster run speed and the "leap" you get with Commando for my build, but it's just my build, experiment!

On the same subject though, I did remove all three of those perks and replaced them with others to try and use my P90 for kills. I want the silencer for that gun, but I need it unlocked. I was doing that last night but my wife came in and started watching me play so instead of her seeing me get my ass handed to my while I tried to gun people down, I switched back to assassin and let her see me do what I do.

Just a though - has anyone tried moving the trigger to a face button? I"ve got to test it out a bit, but sometimes it feels like my shot doesn't go off until the analog trigger is half-way or all the way pressed. Thinking the short travel of a face button might be faster.....

I haven't tried that but, now that you mention remapping, I think I'll remap my melee to a shoulder button. I find pushing in on the analog stick to be awkward.

^^^Another awkward movement is pressing down to hold your breath as a sniper. Pressing down totally destroys my fine control. Might have to remap both melee and holding your breath if possible...

All this talk about MW2...I want to play!

Unfortunately, I'm waiting until I see Newegg's and Amazon's BF deals before getting a new PS3. Best Buy is looking like the best deal at the moment, but I doubt I can manage to get one..

I'm big on sniping and stealth in CoD4, so I'm glad to see a little love given to the stealthy snipers.
My two best classes are a sniper with Claymores, Stopping Power, Iron Lungs, and the M40A3. My best round was probably a 17-0 last week before I traded out the game...though I also had more than a few 25+ kill rounds with under 10 kills. Snipers forever!

I also like to use a silenced MP5, silenced pistol, UAV Jammer, Steady Aim and 3 smokes. Great stealth class.

Can't wait to build some kickass MW2 classes, I just hope they have more class slots...

IIRC - There are still only 5 class slots, but you have more options for your loadout. Playing sniper with a shotty as your secondary is pretty good.

Exciting! It appears as though when you Prestige, you actually get something for it this time! At least, on the first Prestige, you get an extra class slot! Plus, there appear to be more challenges and stuff to do. So finally some motivation to do the Prestige system.

CoD4 I never prestiged, just stayed at level 55.

I found it a little odd personally to give snipers silencers.  Not only does it sound like a push towards an OP class, but it's not terribly realistic (at least my sniper unit didn't get any silencers!).  The level in COD4, All Ghillied Up, portrayed the actual endeavor pretty well.

Then again, from what I recall on COD4's hectic maps, I'm not sure a silencer would do...at least in my case that is.  I couldn't get a very high K/D with them in 4.

W@W however, had some nice, large maps that would have made silencers killer.

^^^From what I've read, in MW2, silenced sniper rifles lose alot of power, so you prob wouldn't get a one hit kill. I'd still like to try it though.

MW2 has a handful of larger maps that are perfect for sniping - especially if your team knows how to apply pressure on a map.  I haven't done much sniping, since I prefer to hold choke points and cause trouble with my trusty M4.  I'm not sure if I would even bother with using a suppressor regularly on a sniper rifle, since it seems to take away much of the 1-shot kill potential.

It may just be me, but playing Domination is giving me some big time flashbacks to Day of Defeat on PC.  The maps don't have the same linear progression most DoD maps had, but the psychology of how to read the maps (and enemies) is very similar.

That's good to hear.  I don't know for sure, for like I said my unit never received silencers, but I think they affect the trajectory some, something that is so much of a science as it is that you'd not want to muddle up further.

Not to mention the only sniper rifle I got to shoot personally (I was a scout within a sniper platoon, so I didn't shoot the rifles often), was the barret...a big LOL at silencing that beast.
