G-Nitro:I like Rust for a good old fashioned knife fight. :D
i love rust so much; even better is picking off the dude that think they're being sneaky by climbing up the tower
Catastrophic: someguyyyyyy: Overall, MW1 I think was better just because it was a break through and MW2 is just a slight improvement on something already there. I think it's safe to say that Infinity Ward went for the "if it's not broke then don't fix it" creed for the multiplayer. Until MW2 came out, plenty of people were still playing MW1, which is quite a feat. I put in another 4-5 hours in MP last night and had to force myself to get to bed. It's just plain fun. I do agree with G-Nitro about some of the maps being geared more towards a "gain and defend" rather than open ended maps. Estate is one, it seems like the snow board with the train tracks is another with the big building people hole up in. The rainy map Underpass is my favorite. I seem to have the most fun there.

I agree with the overall sentiment that while MW was a 'OMG this is revolutionary!!!', 2 looks to change nothing, but rather just continue that trend. Granted, I've not purchased 2 on prinicple, but I don't think I'm 'missing out' by not doing so from the testimonials and gameplay videos I've seen.
Catastrophic's quote of 'If it aint broke...' I think should be change to 'If it aint broke, find a way to break it...' lol.
I do agree with tainted's original point (assuming the opposite is true, as implied), about endless waves of baddies in MW1. I just plowed through the SP storyline over the weekend, something I'd been meaning to do for a good while, and while playing the more difficult settings, endless waves were surely a test of patience. A few times (like when your LZ changes from the top of the hill to the bottom as the SAS towards the end), I just said f*** it and charged past everything; having tried pretty much every 'tactical' approach I could think of prior. Usually, the blind charge worked.
The story was top notch though for MW, and I am a bit distraught I can't continue it immediately, but I haven't heard anyone pleased with the PCs version of 2, as I would expect my own experience to be. I have a backburner mindset of getting it on PS3 to play the story and any MP on, but only via trade here. Alternatively, I may buy the title once STEAM does it's first half off sale, but it'll be a stretch then. Short of not being able to play the reportedly short continuation of the story, I'm not missing having this title as much as I thought I would when I first told myself I'd not buy it. Some good MP perk addons, but nothing revolutionary like the original.
MW > MW2 hands down.

I'm not sure what the map is called, but I absolutely detest the map where each team (I play primarily Express Team Deathmatch) starts on either side of the map inside a building, you have to break glass to get out. For whatever reason, no matter what class I pick, I get slaughtered on that map.
Catastrophic: I've been playing a class I dubbed "Assassin" (no points for originality). I have a P90, Handgun but I try not to use them. I use the unlimited sprint, fast movent speed and whatever the advanced combat perk is. I run around like a maniac and knife whoever I can. I usually die more than I kill, but I have a lot of fun doing it and I know I really annoy the hell out of people. One game I was able to get 17 kills over 13 deaths, I was quite happy. Last I checked I had over 50 of the "Most Knife Kills" accolade. The best is when you can knife 2 or 3 people that are grouped up...needless to say that doesn't happen often, but when it does its sweet!

Sounds like we need to battle. I'm always getting most knife kills too. Not by just focusing on that, I just always happen to be the guy sneaking around others. I use unlimited sprint and radar jamming to nearby enemies. LOVE IT.
The Radar Scrambler is more so a death wish then a helpful tool. If someone is around you that has the perk on, it causes static on the mini-map and when they are really close the whole map turns to snow. When that happens, I have a good idea the area they person is located.
The one map that pisses me off is the one that you can climb on the rooftops. Now you have to worry about getting killed from a roof and the ground.

Yeah its things like that, that make me wish I didn't alienate myself from majority of the Goozex community by getting all my MP games on PSN. It'd be fun to square off.
I also agree with Duddy about the scrambler skill. I used that for a while, but it seemed like it did more harm than good. People were homing in on me.
What's everyone's highest killstreak? I'm no pro at these games, my highest is currently 7.
I think the map your referring to is high rise.
EDIT: Kenny you sound like a bitter PC gamer. MW2 is a great game that improves on MW in almost everyway. I game doesn't have to be revolutionary to be great. Your brethren that swore to boycott the game becuase you didn't get everything you wanted have given into temptation. You should too.

Oh, there's no denying I'm quite bitter. To destroy all the hype built over the year for this pending release with a few extremely questionable moves? A stellar game that abandoned everything from its PC based linage to spew up this consolization of a PC port? Yea, I'm not pleased. However, that's not the basis of my opinion post release.
The SP has been noted to be rather short, shorter than MW's solid though also concise SP offering. MP looks to be more of the same, a few new weapons and perks look cool, but this title isn't the next big thing like COD4 was when it broke through. I shouldn't be docked for not being blindly drawn to the franchise when it in turn abandoned its base.
Yes, I've seen that 'news' article noting all the MW2 players in the boycott. One screenshot of one page of members in a group of 1000s; a PUBLIC group mind you, many of those surely joining to deface the movement. It's not terribly convincing of any great abandonment of the effort. Those that DO buy the PC title get what they deserve....not much.
The game looks to be a great console title, but there's no reason they should have even bothered with the extreme effort of adding 'keyboard and mouse support, graphics options, and text chat' to the PC port. A few simple PC centric changes to the PC port could have made the game worth an immediate buy, though I still haven't seen any reason why I'd of rated 2 above the original.
well as long as you admitted that your bitter. haha
I think MW2 is a slightly better game. In MP there's more features, perks and unlockables. I also think there's more variety in the MP maps - I just think people have to get used to them. The single player is shorter, but more intense. I also like the addition of special ops mode.
Following up to COD4 was going to be tough and I think it's pretty incredible that IW came out with something that didn't pale in comparison. Of course, since COD4 was a revolutionary game, it's going to be hard to have the same "wow! this is new" type feeling with MW2.
LOL! Funny how many people say COD4>MW2 but haven't played MW2.........
Not a big MP'er guy, but the Spec Ops alone make's MW2 > MW for me. Brother and I have been having a blast playing thru all of the scenarios.

Mine sits around 11 - 13 I believe. I know I hit double digits before on a free for all match.
Why do people keep saying CoD4 was revolutionary..? Are we just talking about "amongst console games"?
I enjoyed the hell out of CoD4's multiplayer, but it wasn't anything special. The only thing that set it apart from other MP FPS was its perk system, but that wasn't revolutionary by any means.

Personally I think the perks system was quite revolutionary, at least among FPS titles. You see this copied in everything from sports games to platformers now. NHL 10 uses it, Uncharted 2 uses it, etc. etc.
