I got matched for a trade today, but when I got home from work the receiver sent me a pm not to send the game because "his son accidentally activated the game request". Now I get placed at the bottom if the trade times out, meanwhile the game might lose in value, wtf is this $hit?

You can accept the trade and tell him to request a trade cancellation, as long as he initiates it you'll get your place in line back.

You can do a couple things:

A) accept the trade and send it out because it isn't your fault that apparently this guys child knows his passwords.

B) Accept and tell the buyer to send you a cancel request and accept the request and you will keep your spot in the queue.

C) Let it time out ( I don't reccommend this since you did nothing wrong.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your suggestions, I followed your advice and accepted the trade, and sent the buyer a pm to request a cancellation. Hopefully it works.

Thanks again! Yes

If you let a trade timeout, your item simply goes on hold and you do not lose your place in line. Even if you decline the trade and tell it to be put back in your queue so many days later, you still don't lose your place in line. This is a common misconception by traders that not accepting trades will lose their place in line

If you timeout twice, you lose your place. For one timeout you're OK.

And I lost my position once for rejecting (the buyer had lots of bad feedback). It last last year, things might have changed, but I'd not risk it.

Your best option is probably asking him to cancel after you accept. And if he does not cancel make sure you have proper documentation if things go nasty (i.e.: delivery confirmation, and receipts).

This is always the best solution as it wasn't your mistake, and you get to keep your spot in line.
