Say what you will about the French, but, when I was studying abroad over there last semester, I did a speed test and averaged about 34 mbps for the American dollar equivalent of around $40 per month

The American ISP's make a killing over here off of pretty pathetic service, and I am not sure how we still put up with it. My aunt in Kensington (one of the older areas in London) told me she generally gets around 22 mbps for 45 pounds a month (that's about $90 US for her internet, telephone, and cable service from two different companies).

I guess I will jump on the bandwagon and post mine too. I'm slightly cheating though since this is from my office and not my home.

*We use to have a split T1 with the phone which cost 3x as much and was only at 1.5Mbps (at peak, after split).

This is technically "High speed broadband." There should be a law in place that "high speed broadband" is no less than 1 Mbps (though 1.5+ should be the minimum)

Guess I can't complain too much. It took like a year to convince my gf's dad to upgrade to even this level, and I did manage to pull a couple of 17-0 rounds in CoD4 last weekend
