The GTeam had a brainstorming session the other day and one of the ideas we kicked around was reconfiguring the feedback score and giving it weights based on the value of the item you received positive feedback on.
So for example getting positive on the following:
100 point item = +1 to your feedback score
500 point item = +5 to your feedback score
1000 = +10 to your feedback score
1200 = +12 to your feedback score.

very interesting way to do it but you would have to change around the entire feedback rules. LIke how people can give you a +5 at the moment. With the change were would that option go?
Also for new users it would take them forever to get points after confirming shipment if they only trade 100 point games.....which might be a good thing for scammers.
Not sure if im totally onboard yet for this would like to see how the discussion roles out.
Pm me your email addy for Lockerz invite have 9 left redemption coming soon
I think there could stand to be some tweaks to the feedback guidelines; but I'm not sure what changing the scores like this would accomplish. Also, would it change to a certain number of positive trades before points at confirm for newer users, instead of score? If not, i could see users becoming a bit discouraged
Are these extra points that would be added to the standard 10 points, so if you traded a 100-point game you'd get 11 points instead of 10?

No. Let's say we started this tomorrow (which we are not!!) and you have a current feedback score 100. Then you get positive for a 100 point game. Then you would have a feedback score of 101.

I guess I don't understand the value of this. What are you trying to achieve? To me right now that seems not necessary and the current way it is makes more sense.
becoming a veteran would be a bit more of a challenge... Grandfathered in FTW!
The point is that if you trade out a 1000 point game it is currently treated the same as a 100 point game. The question we have is if that is good policy. One argument is that the member that trades "hotter" games and movies should be rewarded with a better feedback score than the users that may only trade 100 point items.
Sorry for not making that point up front.

i see Goozex as providing the service to still retain value for that game they just dropped $60 for that hot game instead of a $30 trade in should be reward enough
It seems like you'd be severely punishing the people who trade old games (and movies, pretty much) and barely rewarding people who trade new games. It may just be personal bias since I'd have a feedback score of about 100 with this system, but I'm not a big fan.
Isnt getting a 100 pt game in perfect condition more "difficult" than getting 1000pt game? I expect the 1000pt game to pretty much be perfect, if I get Planescape Torment in perfect condition Im MUCH more impressed.
I think the current system is fine.
I usually only trade out 1000pt games and I dont feel that feedback score is a good way to encourage people to trade out more newer games. You could have a draw where anyone that trades out more than 3 1000pt games in a month gets a chance to win a new game similar to the refer a friend draw. That is something that might get me to trade out an extra 1000pt game early to get in on the draw.
Anyways there are other things that should be looked at to encourage people to trade out 1000pt games and this is not one of them.
I voted "bad idea." I just don't understand what behaviour this is supposed to encourage. Well, I take that back, obviously it would incentivate trading new or high-value games.
But, why should (or does) Goozex value this behaviour and want to encourage it? In my mind, the trading of low-points games is vital to having a thriving community, and trading 100-points games is an almost philanthropic gesture.
Is someone who sends out 1 new game more "trustworthy" than one who sent out 8 hundred-pointers? Not to me.
I guess for me at this point it doesn't matter since i have such a high feedback.
Honestly, I'd like to see more focus on bringing in more movie heavy/only traders than focusing on issues such as this. The movie side of Goozex has a chance to be even bigger than the gaming side, but there hasn't been a large enough push on promoting or advertising it outside of Goozex.
But a better feedback score is not a reward at all. It is merely a way of keeping track of how well a seller does in completing transactions. For the purposes of trusting a seller, i don't care what he has sent in the past, i expect him to send out a 100pt game w/ as much effort as a 1000pt game.
This new system would convolute and complicate things and I think your efforts would be MUCH MUCH better spent tweaking the feedback system to combat +5 arbitrary feedback.
