lol I agree GoW's writing wasn't terribly high shelf stuff...but the gameplay was OK, if not unrevolutionary.  I do enjoy having a lumberjack's tool on an assault rifle...

However, if GoW is as lackluster as Uncharted 1/2, then I should adore it, as I love the Uncharted series.  The difference there is the engaging story and acting.

GoW is another title that I started on the hardest of settings, but lost my save file, so I might just plow through it on normal.  However, I'm admittedly a backburner sort of achievement whore, and even though I really don't give a crap about my LIVE login's overall stats...I enjoy earning that stuff, so I might persist with the hard mode again.

I wonder if that GFW LIVE ID carries over to 360's LIVE.  If I were to get one, would it show GoW completed already once I logged in, or do they only care about 360 related items?  Hmmm...

Trophies also keep my backlog large...especially when I sit a mere few from a plat...generally the ridiculous ones left to go.

Shooters are a dime a dozen and Gears is an average shooter at best.

agreed. I couldnt get into this game either. It certainly doesnt rank up there with Borderlands and it isnt even half as good as Time Splitters 4 on the PS2. It lacked variety - the same thing from start to finish and the voice acting was almost as bad as most anime dubbing. Plus the environments werent big enough and the game itself was also way too short.

As far as I know they do.  During one of the XBL achievement contests people were playing GFW Live games and their achievements were carrying over.

You can also create an XBL ID without a 360.  Just go to xbox.com

Do I need one if I have a GFW ID?  Couldn't I use that to log into a 360's LIVE?

I'm too embarrassed to list my backlog, as it's quite substantial. Or maybe I'm just too lazy to actually compile it...probably both. This thread makes me feel better, though.

Let's just say while everyone's talking about Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Bioshock 2, and Mass Effect 2, I have yet to get to any of the first ones. I have games nearly a decade old I've still been meaning to play (I will eventually, no really...). Goozex has only made things worse.

Games I've played in the past year include Serious Sam: Second Encounter (2002), Empire Earth (2001), and No One Lives Forever (2000). Trying to knock out some of the oldies. Currently playing Psychonauts and the Orange Box (at least I'm advancing).

This is why I don't pre-order games, and rarely buy new games at full price, except for a select few franchises. On the bright side it helps me game on the cheap. Starcraft 2 is only game on the horizon (2010?) for me that's a day-one purchase. Well, maybe LoZ: Spirit Tracks (love me some Zelda). Splinter Cell: Conviction might be hard to pass up too, despite the fact I have yet to play Chaos Theory (but I will eventually, no really...)

I won't post my entire backlog....but my currentlog (what I'm playing, plus hope to soon play) is:

    PC:

    Far Cry 2 - I'm enjoying it a lot

    PS3:

Borderlands - playing through with a friend, not nearly as much fun single player

    Uncharted 2 - AMAZING!

    Wii:

Super Mario Galaxy - best platformer I've played in a  long time

    DS:

Chrono Trigger - 1st time playing it and I really enjoy it

GTA: Chinatown Wars - gives me moments of nostalgia from the original top down GTAs

    PSP:

Patapon - pon pon pata pon

My goal is to finish these by the end of the year, and not start any new games until I do. :)   After that I plan on starting Brutal Legend, Metal Gear Acid, SMT: Devil Survivor, Eternal Poison, No More Heroes, and finishing NWN2.

Games I'm in the midst of trying to finish but not being helped by the slew of new releases and end up gettign thrown to the backburner:

    PS2:

    Metal Gear Solid 3

    Sly Cooper 3

    Persona 4

    PS3:

    Bioshock

    Valkyria Chronicles

Metal Gear Solid 4 (but I need to finish MGS3 first!)

    Saints Row 2

    Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

    Wii:

Super Mario Galaxy (this one is a consistent slow progress game though, I do about 2 levels a month)

Also does Wii Fit count as a backlog if I haven't logged in in ages?

Finished Batman and Borderlands.   Dumping Demon's Souls, Final Fantasy III, and Caslevania because I know I'm not going to have time to get back into these with "current log" and the stuff I'll probably want in Spring.  Demon's Souls is the only one I might miss a little, but I'll get it back if I'm ever short on stuff to play.   Still leaves me with the following:

    PS3:

    Dragon's Age: Origins
    Uncharted 2
    God Of War Collection

    360 come Xmas:

    Mass Effect
    Lost Odyssey
    Modern Warfare 2
    Left 4 Dead 2

    DS:

    Final Fantasy IV
    The World Ends With You
    Chrono Trigger

Still too much, maybe I didn't really need a 360.   Oh well.

Say good-bye to a few hours Wink  Check out vhayste's .pdf guide for this if you need some assistance.  Top notch (free) guide.

Oh you needed it.  If you can count your backlog on with your fingers and toes you need more games.
