I checked out the demo for this over the weekend on Steam, and it is a very promising game.  Its alot like Diablo 2, but has some new elements, such as a pretty kickass pet interface.  One thing I like a ton is the fact you can load up your pet's pack with vendor trash and send him/her to town to sell it and they bring back the gold.  Definately worth checking out the demo if you are a fan of the old Diablo games.

Aw, man... this sounds awesome. But I have SO many games awaiting my attention.

That's one of the coolest things I've ever heard for a dungeon crawler.  Is there any multiplayer facet of the game?

Fate had a pet system; no surprise they'd carry it over since Torchlight was made by a bunch of the same people.

There's no multiplayer, although supposedly there's some sort of MMO version coming out next year.

PS - this is getting a retail release in February - March of next year.

Aw, man... this sounds awesome. But I have SO many games awaiting my attention.

 

Tell me about it.  I think I am actively playing 4-5 games right now between the PS3, Wii, and PC.  I was glad it was a demo, so it kind of automatically governs how long I am going to play it.  But the $20 pricetag is kind of enticing.  If it had multiplayer I probably would have bought it already.

There is a retail box version coming out  in stores January 5th as listed on the wikipedia site for the game.   Unfortunately you're not gonna find many people trading it when the game is on sale right now for 5 or 10 bucks given the site you choose.

Its only $5 and you can easily clock 30+ hours into this game depending on how interested you are in the genre. I know i've put in at least 15+ since I bought it last week. I paid $10 at that point and I feel completely fine with that cost even knowing that it dropped a week later. Sure I could have saved myself some money but this game is easily worth the original price of $20.

I'll be happy just knowing that the money goes to Runic Games as I really want to see this Torchlight MMO.

How does this compare to Fate? I played the demo of it and I think Torchlight seems to be better, but I thought I'd get a second opinion.
