It would be nice, when you list a game, to have a checkbox or something along the lines of the following:

  • I bought this game new in the shrinkwrap from a retail store or online.
  • I acquired this game from another Goozex user.
  • I bought this game used or received this game secondhand from a source other than Goozex.

For example,I've gotten games through Goozex that have had messed up manuals, but the case and game are perfect.  After I'm done, I'll send the game out, but the recipient will complain about the condition of the game.  I mean, that's how I got the game, man. What do you want me to do, iron the water-damaged manual to get the wrinkles out?

I'm realize it's inconsequential in the grand scheme of Goozex, but it would be nice.

no, you arent expected to iron the wrinkles out. If its a game you know you can move on the site though you might want to consider listing it as disk only then the manual is seen as a bonus.

In regard to your suggestion, its one i haven't heard before but i have to say i think this would convolute the process a lot.

Ok, I request "Brutal Legend" as a Disc Only

  • Guy A takes the manual swimming with him, so it's all messed up.  He ships it to me as Full Package.
  • I'm put off, but I don't care, because I only want to play the game.
  • I finish the game and send it out to Guy B.
  • Guy B is mad that the manual is in bad condition, and he doesn't give me the highest feedback and leaves a snarky comment.

If you had the option I mentioned, you are basically saying, "Hey, this was from another person doing something to the game/case/manual>"

Another example that actually happened to me:  I requested Black Sigil for DS.  I received the Full Package from a Goozex user.  I played and shipped the game out.  The recipient said "it looked counterfeit, but the game played OK."

How am I at fault here?  I'm simply passing a game on that I received from someone else.  If it's counterfeit (which I'm 99.99999999999% confident that it wasn't, but whatever), I don't have control over that.

In reply to your first point. If you request disc only and you get sent anything extra, that  is a bonus. In reply to your second point, if you suspect you have received a counterfeit product, you should give negative feedback.

Your suggestion is kind of pointless because as a buyer you do not choose whether or not you get sent a game and changing that setup would only slow down the number of trades.

I think the OPs idea is sound in theory (I too don't want to be looked upon as shipping crap if I'm just passing something on), but I don't think it could work in practice.  Just too much more to worry about, not to mention a form that someone could blame their bad handling practices on someone else ("Of course I don't leave my manuals in a dog kennel!  I got this elsewhere!!!").

I really don't understand how where a game comes from is supposed to matter. You currently have it in that condition. If it looks like crap, and you buy it that way, it's your fault for buying it that way. You can choose to obtain it in good condition with no water damage, no missing manual, etc...or you can buy it the way it is just because you want to play it. Saying you got it in a crappy condition from someone/somewhere else is no excuse to pass it on as full package in a crappy condition and say, "It wasn't me!" If you're missing a manual, or it is severely water damaged, or the case has huge chunks in it, it is your responsibility as the seller to correct these things if you expect to get a full +10, otherwise, list it as less than full package.

I take good care of my stuff and I make sure the stuff I buy used is in good condition, so if I'm going to send it out, I will make sure it looks nice (replacing broken/mismatched cases, removing stickers, cleaning discs etc if need be) . If it's missing anything or if any part of it does not look as good as I would like to receive, I will either PM the buyer, or knock it down in condition.

It's just irresponsible to me for people to decide, oh well, take this piece of sh*t because that's the way I got it. Since when did we stop taking responsibility for our actions? /rant

Does the OP really want this option or is he just using this to vent? I support his vent but not this suggestion if you know what I'm saying

In the end...does it really matter where the hell you got it from? As long as you are honest in the type of package you are offering and you are shipping the game that works and that is in good shape overall, that is all that matters.

Why do people tend to over complicate themselves. Confused

This is almost entirely a vent; like I said in my OP, such a change is largely inconsequential to Goozex operations as a whole.  I'm just tired of people acting like I sent them a New Kids on the Block CD in a ziploc bag when I simply pass on media as I receive it.

I am confused as to why it's my responsibility to atone for the poor handling skills of the person who sent me a game.  When I request a Disc Only game and it comes full package, I don't even touch the left side of the case, manual or no.   Should I send a PM to a potential buyer saying, "The manual is jacked up from the guy before me, FYI" if this happens?  Probably.  Am I scourge upon humanity if I don't?  I don't think so.

Proper communication between buyer and seller prior to carrying out trades would alleviate a lot of the headache, IMO.

For example, consider the following; I received Blue Dragon a few months back-- game discs were flawless, while the case and booklet were pretty torn up.  When I was matched to trade out, I sent the prospective buyer a PM regarding the condition of the item BEFORE accepting the trade.  This allowed the buyer the opportunity to make the decision regarding what condition they were willing to receive, rather than having the seller make that decision for them.

Pie.

If he didnt respond in the 26 hour accept window, would you let it timeout or just assume his silence indicates his approval?  And also if he didnt want it, I assume you'd let it time out, but would you do so if Goozex made policy changes that came down harsher on users who let offers timeout?
