You heard it because it is generally accepted as true. Furthermore all the "damage" you see in forza is nothing true to life in terms of how the car would react. Gran Turismo 5 is going to change that

EDIT: it won't make it entirely realistic, but it is a huge step in the right direction.

No pissing wars for GT5 and Forza 3!

I watched all 4 videos and I agree GT5 does look like a step in the right direction, but they are both unrealistic.  The games would no longer be any fun if they made them more realistic in terms of damage.  I love the Ferrari in the last video bouncing off the walls and driving along like nothing happened.  If you hit a guard rail at that speed in real life you would probably fly out of the front windshield.

I'm not trying to start a war, i was afraid it would be misread that way. I was merely saying how GT was hoping on the boat and taking it in the right direction (i didn't mention forza's imporvements because this was a gran turismo thread". That was the first website i went to that had videos of gran turismo damage.

If you want damage in your car racing sim, look for a game called TOCA Race Driver 3. The first time I was racing an open wheel car (like an F1 sort of thing), and hit a wall and my front wheel went flying off, I was hooked. Plus, it has races with a lot more competitors than GT offers.

Sorta side note; I read a comment on a youtube DIRT 2 race and the comment was "Nice race but you should learn to drive clean."

It was a rally x race and I was thinking there is NO WAY TO DRIVE CLEAN!  The Cpu rams you constantly in those rally x races. anyways I agree too much realism is no fun

I know I was pretty much just busting your chops.  You know how these things go. Big Smile

What I remember from the last time I was playing GT4 was I was having the computer race those endurance events for me.. I am still afraid to start 24 hours of Le Mans.

a lot of dedication. I never did the 24 hours of le mans, but i did several other endurance races and they take several hours of your life. Its worth it though. I got a couple f1 style cars from it.

GT4 outputs in 1080i mode on the PS2, the graphics look great for a PS2 game, some of the best.  It also supports 480p widescreen mode.

If you are playing on a BC PS3 DO NOT USE UPSCALING, it will make the game look worse, run it in either 1080i or 480p for best.

As far as damage goes, I really dont' care that much about it.  GT is a "sim" and no game has handled sim damage AND given realistic gameplay AND graphics.

TOCA is good for hard core sim fans, the graphics are meh.

The best "damage" in cars IMO was the Burnout series, but that is arcarde

So I should use my ps2 component cables rather then composite?

Isn't that the only way to output in 480p on the PS2?

I actually preferred the Composite for God of War 2 so I switched to that. I HATE JAGGIESEIESI!!! Jaggies make me crazy and my HDTV in my ps2 room is crap.

So yea up to component when GT4 comes (if the dude accepts it)

GT4 is one of the most graphically beautiful games for PS2.

I still prefer A-Spec over GT4 though.

Wait you are intentionally running games at lower resolutions?  Switch to RF if you really want to blur it up :)  Every PS2 game has jaggies ...

But since you hate them, outputting GT4 at 1080i will indeed show jaggies
