yep thats exactly what it was
On Friday actually.
Grabbed the keys, put em down cause I forgot something. Grabbed what I forgot, headed out and locked the door from the inside before leaving the house.
"Oh S#&^!!"
The keys were still in the house. I waited outside until 8 PM for someone to let me in, reflecting every second on my pure idiocy.
Not quite a grease fire, but it definitely had me cussin up a storm.

Did this on halloween night. We have a special security lock and couldn't get it back open. Had to call a locksmith. $200 later we were back in the house.....

My wife's obstetrician still tells her other patients about my initial reaction to finding out we were having twins.
Along the same lines as the OP's post, I had an Oh $*&^ moment about 15 years ago while living in an apartment. My neighbor started a fire in her kitchen. I was in the shower at the time and had to evacuate, wearing only a towel. Since all of us were standing on the lawn and it was the first time I'd ever really met any of my neighbors, it was an awkward first impression.

It must have been cold outside.
A few years ago when shesnrice and I were living in Geraldton. We thought it would be nice to drive to Cornwall, ON to visit her parents for Christmas. We were driving through one of the small towns on Hwy 17 (about a few hours west of Ottawa) when a passing lane opened up (making it 3 lanes wide). We hit some black ice as we pulled out to pass swinging the end of the truck around so we were perpendicular with on coming traffic. Shesnrice corrected it so it was then my door facing oncoming traffic. A summer or two before she had to take an advanced driving course when she was a summer student (for a forestry company) where they were put into situations like this. Needless to say she managed to get us back into our lane, but the end of the truck swung around again and we ended up backing in the ditch.
Justice (our rottie) was a little freaked out, but thankfully nobody was hurt. The truck wasn't even damaged. I'll never forget how everything seemed like it was in slow motion. It's quite surreal when you see on coming traffic rapidly approaching you. All I did was grab the holy s*** bar and braced for impact.
Somebody pulled over to check on us and called 911 for us. When the fire department from one of the small towns showed up we were shocked to find out that a friend of ours from college was a fire fighter. Needless to say we don't drive anywhere at Christmas as the year before that we were parked on the 417 east of Ottawa for 4 hours because there was about 3 inches of ice on the road and countless cars were in the ditch.

I've done that the last two times I went for a haircut. I should stop getting haircuts. Or stop forgetting the keys, either one I suppose.
