Hi guys,I'm sure most 360 owners out there know about the X360 error where you put CLEAN discs in,it says "Reading" and then goes to "Open Tray" as if no disc is actually there.First off,my warranty ran out back in August.Second,I need to get this fixed ASAP due to Modern Warfare 2 coming out on Tuesday, and my plans to make the midnight launch.Due to my warranty expiring, two days ago I opened up my 360.Before you point to this as the source of the problem,I took it apart VERY carefully and didn't even touch the disc drive.I played a game just for like 10 minutes or so to see if playing a game with the case off affected anything (just in case). After this,I turned off my 360 until the next day.I put a game in,And this problem occurred.I tried it with several discs with no success.I then carefully disassembled the case around the drive and unplugged the cords.Nothing inside looked out of place, and I read on Llama's site, and they said to try cleaning the lens carefully with a cotton swab and lens cleaner.I used the lens cleaner from my glasses and it seemed to get better, but still not working. If anyone can help with this PLEASE respond. Thanks,

its probably a problem from the lens - on some of the older consoles they were faulty . I had this problem as well. The thing is cleaning it will NOT really help it even if it gets better after a try or 2 it will fail again with a fairly quick time frame. The best way to get this fixed is to send your console to Microsoft and they will fix it and send it back to you usually within 2 to 3 weeks.

Since your warranty ran out like mine did I just opted to buy a new console instead because it wasnt a very cheap fix plus the time without my xbox would have been around 3 weeks so I just decided to get a new one and keep a spare in my closet. If the one I am using now craps out on me then I will send them both in to get fixed at the same time. Check the xbox website and they will give you details about the error under the help/troubleshooting section and directions on where/how to send it in to them to get it fixed. Its a fairly common problem and they can fix it pretty easy but you might have to wait on MW2 until it becomes fixed. If you get the Red Ring of Death with it I think that they will fix them both for you for free but just the open trey error costs about 100 dollars I think.

Next time please only open up one thread instead of two Smile

I don't have the time and money to send this in due to MW2 coming out on Tuesday. As far as it being a faulty old drive,I bought my 360 refurbished in August '08 at a GameStop.I sent it in for RROD back in March and apparently, after looking at the label on the disc drive, they replaced the drive, because the drive has a manufacturing date of January '09.As for the two threads,I don't know how that happened, and I believe this is only my second or third post,so I apologize for that.

Well, you don't have many options. Learn to fix it yourself, buy a new one, send it in, or stare at a broken 360 and your brand new copy of MW2 still in shrink wrap.

That happened on 2 of my 360s. I unplugged them and shook them and then it had no problems reading discs anymore

Mine does it occasionally, but with a little taking the game out and restarting it seems to work fine.

Oddly enough it never seems to do it to a game that it's played before.
