Someone requested a DVD from me a few weeks ago, and I sent it out the same day as it was requested. When I got home I found out there was a trade cancellation request, which I probably would have honored had I not already paid for the shipping and put the DVD in the mail. When asked about it, the user said they didn't know why they had been matched for the trade because they didn't have any trade tokens and they were trying to save up points for something else. I searched the forums a bit for some answers on the subject and found out Goozex had been testing the system and a bunch of people got free trades, some of whom were very upset because it ruined their plans.

Well, you know how much I would love for this to be my problem, but regrettably is simply isn't. I used Goozex's instant shipping labels to send the package, and the tracking number confirms that the package has been delivered to it's destination. However, the user decided to leave me Negative feedback saying they had not recieved the DVD. Now, before any of this happened the user informed me of their intent to return the package to sender, which would send the package to Goozex, and have them sort out the issue. This is why it confuses me that the user would leave me Negative feedback saying they have not recieved the package when the tracking information confirms that they have in fact recieved the package.

They escalated the issue to Goozex, and I did as well since the auto-close is in a couple of days. So strong is their resolve not to pay for their own mistake that they truly believe they can convince Goozex not to believe a tracking number from Goozex's own shipping labels. If I remember correctly, Goozex's stance on people who are unhappy with their free trades is that you're SOL and the request list is intended to be used only for things you REALLY want to trade, meaning that if you're saving points for something you shouldn't have anything else in your request list. If you get matched for a free trade that you didn't want, it's not the seller's fault and it's not Goozex's fault either.

I guess I do have a question, though....is there ANY WAY this user could get away with this?

HIGHLY unlikely...

Considering you have a DC to back up your claim and there is a string of messages that shows the other user never wanted the DVD sent to them (in large part their mistake for not properly managing their own queue) - you should win any dispute.

Usually i'll give the other trader alot of leeway when it comes to canceling, but if it's reached a point where i've paid for postage then they are SOL and need to accept they are going to receive the game/movie regardless.

Stay the course and keep an eye on the dispute.  Everything should work out for you in the end.

Don't worry. Your tracking number covered you. You will get positive and the buyer will get a warning about feedback abuse from Goozex.

Thanks Mech and Bury, I was pretty sure I'd be covered but I was just getting a little concerned since the trade closes in a couple of days. However, I figure even if Goozex doesn't get around to it in time, if a Negative gets put on my account it'll probably be taken off when they find out what happened.

You should be just fine. It is possible Goozex could have the buyer send them the movie and refund the points to the buyer, but you are free and clear..

Ah the old "I didn't know I would be matched" excuse.  Such a poor scam tactic.  If you add it to requests, you know you have the potential to get matched....

If they wrote return to sender Goozex just has not got around to giving you feedback yet. I would not worry you have your proof so you are good.

Oh and the guy pulling this should be BANNED for life.  Return to sender because "oh I forgot and didnt want it" does not fly
