Supposedly because of concerns with the game's use of Steamworks:
Impulse will not be selling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 either. We share some of the same concerns as Direct2Drive over the bundling of the Steam client with the game. The most obvious issue is the forced inclusion of a competitor's store that blocks us from carrying the game.
Our issues with the game are solely with the Steamworks bundling. We enjoy a great relationship with Activision and would love to sell the title, but not with Steam.
Seems like it has to do with the fact that Steam also sells things on their store, and it would directly compete with D2D. But wait! they sell Dawn of War 2, and that requires steam. Seems like a weird situation.
I don't blame them, but refusing to sell one of the biggest PC game releases of the decade probably isn't good for their bottom line, principles be damned.
As long as Steam sells it, I really don't care. They're the only digital PC marketplace that matters to me.
With everything happening around this title, both sellers and buyers of this title will all have a sour taste in their mouths. This title has become the symbol of greed from the publishers and distributors.

Hopefully those behind the game get sued. Didn't MS get sued for doing the same thing with Windows and IE?
Anything against MW2 is A.O.K. in my book now. Maybe they can team up with No Doubt.

How does that make any sense? There are many games, including those by Valve, that require steam. So, I think we should sue Valve too, since they don't allow D2D to sell their games.
Activision probably wanted a really big cut from the sales, and the distributors turned them down.
Whatever happened to going to the store buying a pc game installing it on you computer and playing it? Now most games require steam so if you want a freind to borrow it you have to give them account info to its crazy.

I really like the progressive and more educated attitudes of Stardock's impulse and gog.com, but you can't expect every dev to wise up especially the big names like EA and activision who are completely clueless. And some of the larger DRM software producers have their tentacles buried pretty deep into the industry.

Maybe they can team up with No Doubt. That was a frivolous lawsuit from anti-MS neckbeards angry that MS bundles IE, which they made, with windows, which they made. It is sort of similar, and if a lawsuit were to be brought up it would be just as big a piece of nonsense, but I don't think D2D or especially Stardock are big or litigious enough to sue anyone.
No, they were sued for various reasons. On the browser side I believe the issue came down to them embedding IE into the OS so that it couldn't be removed. They were also doing shady things at the time like telling companies that if they were to sell windows they couldn't sell other competing products like Macs. Pretty sure they were doing the same with Netscape, and so they were at a competitive disadvantage since MS was embedding their browser into the OS and using the popularity of the OS to bully resellers into not being able to install Netscape as well. Microsoft is a crappy company whose crappy practices have led to less choice for consumers in the marketplace. They've set the computer world back quite a bit with their greed.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!
*enjoys windows 7*
Yes, but in my opinion, windows 7 is what windows vista SHOULD have been, and microsoft should let any valid vista key work for windows 7 because of the big shaft they gave everyone with vista.
Vista worked perfectly fine for me. Most windows problems are between the computer chair and the keyboard. Now if MS deserved to give anyone a refund, it was for Windows ME...
