"At the moment we’ve got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there’s a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010," revealed Bethesda publishing executive Paul Oughton, speaking to GI.biz.
Apparently, the next game - yet to be unveiled by Bethesda - will take place two-centuries after the events of Oblivion.
Hints purporting to reveal that a new Elder Scrolls game is in development have surfaced online, the Waterstone's book retailer website giving the game away via a new Elder Scrolls novel synopsis.
"A novel that takes places forty-five years after the Oblivion Crisis, which is the story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game and the expansion pack Shivering Isles. It partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis," reads word on the site.
We're hopeful that Bethesda will announce this new RPG soon
- this book will be the first novel of 2
Didn't like any of the Elder Scroll games, but I do like that companies have books and games in conjunction with each other.
The Mass Effect books were outstanding and fantastic reads. I have the first Dragon Age book and it, like the ME books, ties directly into the games stories.
I didn't like Oblivion but Fallout 3 was pretty good and convinced me that Beth soft can learn from their mistakes. Here's hoping TES5 wil be as big a step up as FO3 was from Oblivion.
As for the novel, Oblivion wasn't exactly known for its literary greatness... and FO3's biggest fault was that they didn't hire a professional writer and opted to do it themselves. I hope they bring in a professional to help on the next game. I enjoyed reading those Worlds of Power books as a kid but I can't imagine reading a canonized video game fanfiction unless I was really bored or a huge fanboy.

TES5?
I'm assuming The Elder Scrolls 5...

Which is why the Mass Effect and Dragon Age books are so damn good. They are written by the head writer of the games. I wouldn't have read them if they were mere fanfiction
I actually just finished reading the Kingdom of Thorn and Born series by Keyes. I enjoyed it, so hopefully this book wont just be some hastily thrown together piece of garbage. I think Id like to read it.

Right, well I think that game designers taking their own universes seriously enough to make a novel is great, but its a little ridiculous when they start paying scifi writers for hire to make books based on something like Gears of War.
this guy seems to write alot of star wars books
It would be great to see another game in 2010. A new Fallout game,Tales game, and Elder scrolls game in the same year will be another great year in gaming.
looks like i have a book to get.....
