Xbox Live Rewards Details

MS offers details on customer loyalty program.

November 3, 2009 - Recently, Microsoft sent out e-mails to select Xbox Live members inviting them to try out an Xbox Live rewards pilot program. Now, the company has revealed the exact details of that program (via Gamasutra). A special page has been posted on xbox.com detailing all of the rewards. And in cheesy infomercial fashion, it promises that the more you spend the more rewards you earn.

The rewards program is currently only open to select pilot participants and will last for six months. Those participating will receive Microsoft point kickbacks for doing select actions on Xbox Live. Things like purchasing or renewing an Xbox Live Gold Subscription earn you points, as well as subscribing to Netflix, participating in program surveys, and making Marketplace purchases.

Would you be more likely to make the majority of your online purchases through Xbox Live, as opposed to the Wii or PlayStation Network, if you received small rewards for doing so? Let us know in the comment field below.

I think it is great. I'm not getting anything back now, so this is a great bonus to using the service.

It's not much, but it's free and more than anything provided now, so I'm happy for it.

It will be interesting to see if they actually do increase the price.  If they do and depending on how much I'll have to strongly consider switching unless MS gives Canadians a discounted price for the discounted version of XBL we receive.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Wish I got invited to the trial as I have to renew my 12 month subscription this month.

Yeah, same here. Been a Live gold member for 5 years straight and I'm also paid off till 2012, but I get no rewards for that.   To get an invite, you had to sign up for the preview program.
