I own all of those game on the list, however, Outlaws is the only one I've played. It's an excellent game. I'll get to the others soon enough.
Hexpane:I enjoyed it anyway because I like western theme. Red Dead Rev was also pretty good, but was barely western and much more "this is what JPN thinks westerns should be"
It is a total homage to spaghetti westerns... it was like HARDCORE western.
The version that Capcom was doing was more in keeping with what you describe.
GUNSMOKE in the arcade.
Yeah yeah I know, I'm freakin old.
I see Mad Dog McCree isn't listed, and probably for good reason. It was pretty bad. Whoever rated 5 stars across the board here on Goozex must have be trying to unload it on some unsuspecting gamer. Outlaws certainly was a dandy of game, and both Call of Juarez games were very enjoyable.
Gun and Call of Juarez sucked.
The best completely western-themed game is Gunaman's Proof for the SNES. It's Zelda: A Link to the Past with some stylistic influences from Earthbound, in a western setting. And it's awesome. I don't think it came out anywhere outside of Japan either, which is why nobody has heard of it.
And more importantly, there is Sunset Riders, which gave us the manliest video game character of all time: Cormano Wild.
I forgot about Sunset Riders, maybe I'll have to give Gunman's proof a shot

hey kube00, I've been waiting for you to confirm the Simpsons S7 forever, are you going to let it time out again?
OK, so this is a 4 month old thread, but with Red Dead Redemption on the way in April, I thought maybe the Western thread should be necroed.
I'm debating on picking up a cheap copy of GUN for the 360 (I noticed the goozex points went up by 50 while I was mulling it over) or just get Red Dead Revolver again. In the meantime, I've been playing a mod called Western:1866 for Mount & Blade (PC) which is a whole lot of fun. Mount & Blade is a medieval knight FPS type game with an emphasis on horseback riding and this cowboy facelift lends itself well to the game.

I remeber that game as being awesome!!!!
Chambered:Suggestion for the best Wild Arms game to start with?
Missed that months ago.
I think Wild Arms 3 is available with decent supply, I don't think the same can be said for 4 or 5. All of those are on the PS2, while Wild Arms and WA2 were released on the PS1 (and might be on the PSN...or they are in Japan). I think the original was remade for the PS2 and called Wild Arms: Alter Code F or something like that. There is also a PSP game called Wild Arms XF, but I haven't played too much of it to really comment on how good it is.
I've had a few friends recommend the third game...so that's where I'm going to start.

Funny, I was just trying to rack my brain for the name of that game I played back in the 90s on my PC.
Ya, that game was terrible, at least on PC.

Come on it was 1993. Very high tech for '93
Maybe high tech, but still lame. The acting was terrible and over the top campy, and I thought that as a 13 year old.
I was playing Doom.
