I tried to get the Amazon bundle, camped on the "Add to Cart" button, but didn't get it.
My mistake? I think the problem was that I already had some other crap in my cart that I had forgotten to clear out, so when I went to place the order I had to burn a few seconds clicking "delete" on the other items. By the time I got to checkout, it was too late. (We're talking 10-15 seconds total.) Gah. Maybe I need to set up 1-click purchasing.
I called Amazon customer service and the rep told me that she heard of a guy who set up 5 computers to camp the gold box deal, and of the five he only got ONE at discount. They go fast.
Is the 360 Arcade still supposed to come the 360 Arcade Compilation Disc (with the games liek Uno and Pac Man challenge)? There was none in my 360 box and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to have gotten one or not.

No, they stopped that after the last holiday season. You can usually find those used at Gamestop for less than $5.

They may have more coming up, but the reason I got the email is because I got in on the 8 AM Lighting Deal, but then I called their customer service to confirm I got it and they told me that I didn't. I guess I actually did, so they're giving me a chance to get it still.
Crap. I'll just keep an eye out; I can't imagine this'll be the only good deal for a 360 this season.
My wife is interested in getting a console in the bedroom as well, but actually wants another PS3. I'm slightly more interested in finishing the console trilogy, but I can see where she's coming from too.

I also tried and failed to get the Lightning Deal, called CS and was told I didn't get it, then got the exact same email you did. I pounced on it immediately. I have no intentions of keeping the Xbox but I'm pretty darn sure I can flip it for more than $100 :)

Same here. With a little profit off of the flip, this becomes an even better deal. Console should come out to about $50 - $60 at most. :)

Remember, you're spending $200 in real money to get a $200 console and $100 in Amazon credit. If you flip the console for $150, you're still down $50 cash and have $100 in Amazon credit, which is +$50 overall. A nice profit, but you're a ways away from getting the console for $60 unless you are going to buy a clunker refurb unit. You're probably better off just keeping it if you want the Xbox.
Personally, I am already backlogged for months on my PS3... another console would just be one more thing taking up space on the entertainment center.

Nah, but I think I'll get $155-160 or so for it after shipping and everything by looking at completed ebay sales. So long as I use the gift cards on things I would have otherwise purchased, I don't view that as money out of my pocket.
Realistically I'll probably use the Amazon card to get a 60 GB Live bundle ($90) and the remainder for the God Of War Collection that I was purchasing otherwise. I'll be in a hurry to spend that one since it expires 12/31. So it's really more like $150ish for a 60 GB Pro + Headset + 3 months live. Which I had to prespend $100 at Walmart to get. That's a pretty great deal.
At that price, I'm happy to give it a whirl. Worst case scenario I'll get $150 or more for this bundle if I decide I really don't want it sometime next year. I won't have trouble turning this all around.
I just sold my extra arcade that was still under warranty through craigslist. Listed it with a memory card, HD player, and few movies and got $160 for it. Started at 200 nobody was biting so lowered it a little every few days and finally somebody bit at 160.

This is still running in Walmart stores, still going until 11/13. You can look online to see if any near you have them in stock. Couple guys from another board I frequent have gotten them today. 2 Walmarts within 10-15 miles of me have them, and there's a good number in the local area overall.
My Walmart one arrived yesterday. I assumed it would be, but got confirmation from the power supply that it's a Jasper. So, are these actually any better about breaking than the previous models?
