Also, my Walmart order is still in the processing stage right now. There is a cancel button, so you might be able to cancel the order before it even ships if you get the Amazon one this afternoon.
Only thing I'm not liking about the Amazon one is that it comes 7 days after the thing ships and has to be used by 12/31/09. I'll figure out what I want to do by 2 PM, and I'm sure I'll be able to get in again this time if I want at Amazon. It wasn't that bad, you just had to be at your PC. Feeling better about getting this at Walmart now though. Was going to cave and order Modern Warfare 2 at Amazon. Supposedly Walmart's card comes within a few hours after you place the order, so there's a good chunk of it used right there if they get this to me today or sometime this weekend.

my walmart is a 24 hour unorganized madhouse on a daily basis just to begin with. If not for this deal, I avoid tat place like the plague. Luckily nobody was informed enough not to sell me the deal after midnight instead of waiting til 8 am.
Just finished setting it up and making a gamertag. No games yet, but hopefully I'll have some within the week through Goozex. I was very happy to find out that my old wireless adapter that I used with my PS2 works with the 360.

Right now I'm just on pins and needles waiting for this ecard to arrive via email. They seemed to close the online orders down sometime around 9:00 so I'm assuming my order at 8:20 is going to go through but until I have the ecard I'm sweating it. Soon as I get that, I'm requesting Mass Effect, Fable 2, and Lost Odyssey via here.

Those games are crappy, the second controller and hard drive is nice but not as nice as a $100 GC. I would say the amazon deal is a lot better than that one, plus you get a brand new 360 that has 3 years of warrenty instead of 1.

I see what you mean, but If you were going to buy a hardrive and controller with the $100 gift card anyway then 3 free games is nice. All xbox 360's only have a 1 year warranty, but a 3 year RROD warranty so the refurbished still has a 3 year rrod warranty along with the 1 year microsoft warranty. I could be wrong though.
egift card just arrived. And the way they charged me on this thing, it was 99.00 for the console and 100 for the gift card so it's a go.
In retrospect, I'm pleased with the way this worked out. Since it arrived in hours rather than days I can use this on MW2, get the $20 there, and have another $60 left over for a game sometime next year rather than having to rush to spend the money now.

I bet a lot of people are going to be buying 199.99 XBOX 360 ARCADES thinking they must have gotten the deal, the only indicaTION that you were sucesful was a penny reduction in the price and something about lightning -0.01 in your cart, I know most people don't really read things, but this was a crap setup, not going to bother for the next one later today. I just really want the PS3 anyway, but for 99$, i'd take an xbox 360.

Yeah, as soon as I saw I got checked out at 199.99 I knew something was wrong because it was 199.98 when I first added it to the cart. Luckily I had their customer service call me before the Walmart deal expired, and they let me know I was screwed. I bet a lot of people do similar things and get a $199 Arcade.
I had actually ordered up MW2 last night and promptly cancelled that order as well so they cost themselves an extra sale on the thing too. No reason not to use the gift card rather than my own cash on it since they both have the same deal outside of me paying $3 in taxes at Walmart. I'll live with that.
And I'm still getting MW2 on the PS3. ;) I would actually consider using that as my first real trial of Xbox Live, but this box can't be cracked until Xmas.

Thanks for the tip. I wen ahead and got a 20gb HD (which should be enough for my purposes) off amazon marketplace for ~$30. Much much cheaper than what it sells for retail. Plus a $3 HDMI cable off of ebay. Hopefully both those items will arrive around the same time Gears of War 2 does from my Goozex request.

Well I would use the gift card on something other than the controller and HDD since those can be purchased used for cheap. Also I heard that if it is a refurbish you only get one year for the RROD, it might be either one year from refurbish date or three years from original sale, whichever one comes later. So if it is a two year old refurbished console you would only have a one year warrenty for RROD. Plus I would take a new 360 (hopefully a jasper) over a refurbished one.

I'm tempted to use the remainder of my gift card money on the 60 GB "live" bundle. A 20 GB hard drive doesn't seem like it's going to cut it to me the more I think about it, there's a lot of people with posts about upgrading from 20 GB hard drives due to space issues. The 120 GB ones are too expensive.
For now I'm going to go with MW2 for $44 essentially since you get a $20 gift card back pretty much immediately. That leaves $56 left, so I'm going to hope that someone does a crazy deal on some hard drives and Walmart tries to match them.
