StilesCrisis:

If you're extremely concerned about the difference between the Sensormatic release or the Canadian Movie Cash release, buy it new.

If it's missing booklets that came with it, that's not Full Package and you're justified in posting a negative if that's what you get.

If you get the wrong EDITION of the movie (e.g. you don't get the 2-Disc Special Edition, you get the single-disc release instead), that's not what I'm talking about at all.

I'm only concerned about the case where a release has multiple UPCs but from a consumer perspective is IDENTICAL--same movie, same encoding, same anamorphicness/widescreen-ness, same special features. And this seems to happen for 90% of the new releases on Goozex; there will be two entries, with different point values, and there's absolutely no difference from a consumer standpoint. Or you can get weird edge cases like a movie ONLY has the Canadian release on Goozex, which makes just as little sense.

You can't leave a negative for not getting a full package unforunately, you have to leave a neutral.  You can if it's the wrong version, but that's just pulling teeth if you are gonna go as low as leaving it over a simple issue of sensormatic or other security feature.

Why are there so many entries for the same movie?

There are Checkpoint releases, Movie Cash releases, Canadian releases, etc. etc. All for the exact same disc, just different packaging. Even if you're offering or requesting something disc-only, you still have two or three different listings to choose from. And the point values aren't even consistent between entries!

Note that I'm NOT talking about movies with special editions and regular editions, or movies that have had legitimate re-releases several years down the road with different extras/features/etc. Those are legitimately different products. (e.g. a lot of DVDs have a late-90s release that is non-anamorphic, and a mid-2000's release that IS anamorphic, and there's a huge difference there if you have a 16:9 TV.)

Whenever I request or offer a movie, I have to make multiple entries in my Requests/Offers queue to make sure that I don't lose my place in line.

This isn't a site for hardcore collectors; nobody is going to care whether they get a Canadian packaging or Movie Cash in the box or whatever. These entries should all be collapsed into one.

(In a perfect world, I'd also like a way to request "any edition of this DVD" as one entry in your list, to avoid accidentally matching on two different copies of the same movie at once. But that's probably more work for less benefit.)

Well if you think about it, there are different types of the same movie, like the collectors eddition or the special eddition.

Your best bet is to input the UPC and list it as such. If it isn't in the database, don't offer it. If you absolutely want to offer it, just PM the seller prior.

How does that help me request movies without putting a ton of identical items in my request queue...?

For that, it's kind of like a n00b in a FPS game, you just pray and spray. Add em all and pray for one to land.

Right, you're making my point for me.

(a) That's confusing/uninituitive and puts new users at a disadvantage.

(b) Your queues have small limits (100 items?) and this effectively halves your limit or worse.
