taintedzodiac: WILTRON: I think it's funny how some people totally disregard what "Confirm Shipped" means. Ironically I was looking for an official definition this morning. Unless I'm missing it somewhere from the G-Team/FAQ/etc., right now it's open to an individual's interpretation. I've gotten many confirmed shipments with the note, "Will be sending it out first thing in the A.M." So obviously there is variance in what it means.

On the shipping confirmation page, where you enter the DC#, this message appears:
"Please click "send confirmation" to send the information above to the buyer. It is your message to the buyer that the product is on its way. If you have not shipped the product yet, then please click "cancel" and come back later."

It doesn't state you have dropped it off in a mail receptacle or at the Post Office. I have given a tracking # and I'm taking it to the post office later. This still can be considered as on its way. You're a lawyer, you should know that is not specific enough to clearly mean in the hands of the post office or other shipping provider.
Disagree. There may be some variance in how it's used, but the definition of "Confirmed Shipped" is pretty cut and dry from a common sense standpoint.

'If you have not shipped the product' seems clear enough to me?

This argument borders on nonsense.
I have to imagine you ignored the third sentence when you formulated this post.

Either way, none of this matters. There is NOTHING goozex or another user can do about this, other than having people videotape themselves dropping it into a mailbox or handing it to a postal employee. This is all people bitching about something that won't change. I confirm shipment like I always do and will continue to do so. I am not confirming shipment early for the points, as I have plenty of those, so I don't need to confirm anything in a rush to get points.
This really won't change anything, except maybe deter a couple scammers. The only thing this helps is stopping cancellation requests and forcing more negatives to be handed out where necessary. It sucks we have people ship late, but I can't imagine peopel don't have other movies or games to keep them occupied while they wait. Sit back, relax and you'll get your game when it arrives, whether from the first seller or the next. I don't have much of a life outside video games and technology, but I can always find something to keep me entertained while waiting for an item to arrive.

Then define it to cover every possible way to ship something that you trade on Goozex, and I guarantee we would be here until the end of time debating it word for word.
We're getting off of the point, though. The point (for me) is and always will be: it makes no difference so long as the item gets there as far as Goozex is concerned and able to enforce, so there is little need for unenforceable rules that complicate the system.

@Nitro: Absolutely true. The argument is moot. You can still use the button however you please.
And truth be told, you're such a dedicated and prolific Goozex trader, in your specific case, it won't cause a problem for anyone.
So if the change prevents even .5% of scam trading, we can all pat the Admins on the back and go about our Goozex business as usual.
@Taint: To argue that "Confirm Shipped" means anything other than "In the hands of the organization with the responsibility for delivery" doesn't make any sense and I wouldn't bother.
Let me just come back on here to state that as far as I know, no one I've traded with has ever confirmed shipped something before actually shipping it or providing a legit tracking number. In my opinion, if you confirm shipped, you better have either:
In fact, I've done a variety of the above. I've either just bought the postage and confirm shipment because it's going out first thing in the morning or I just came from the Post Office from dropping (either already paid through Paypal or sending it out to Canada); on rare occassions even having something be shipped after I bought it on Amazon cheap, but only confirming once I know it's being shipped out. Sometimes I've even forgotten to until a day later to confirm, but I've always confirmed it when it's guaranteed that it's going to leave my house.

Feel free to leave me a negative, neutral, or even +5 for not actually dropping off to the post office at that exact moment I confirm ship if we are matched again. Oh wait, that's right. You can't. Because A) its feedback abuse and B) you have to still wait at least 7 days from the sellers shipment option to leave feedback for not received. Like tainted says, this means nothing. You can bitch and whine about a heavy trader like me confirming shipment with a tracking # the night before I take it to the post office. But I am breaking no rules on Goozex, and you will still get the game well before the alloted time and have to leave the appropriate feedback based upon the game package. So please, continue to argue and cry about it. I will continue to trade as I always have and have no issues in doing so.
If the new rule gets put in place, yes, you would be breaking it by nabbing the points up early.
I believe you're a possible exception to the rule, being a proven trader of high volume; I too like to put in the DC as soon as I purchase it, something that can only be done in the confirmation stage, but like I noted earlier, I'm generally IMMEDIATELY heading out the door to ship it at that point. As it stands though, utilizing the button prior to getting the game out of your hands isn't how it's meant to be used, and is technically a rule/mandate broken.
Another method in which to enter pivotal info without exactly confirming shipment that hasn't happened yet would be best, but continuing to dig for ways to make this update work make the whole ordeal more and more pointless.
