Kenny007: A person at 9PM at night could leave it in a blue box mailing container and consider it shipped....FYI.
This is very true. Also I have a mailbox in front of my house with the red flag. So I hit confirmed shipped as soon as i print my shipping label with goozex that includes the DC because at 9pm at night i print it out tape it to the package and put it in my mailbox with the red flag up. To me that's considered already shipped.

He is a part of no problem. I do the same thing, and it is then dropped into a mailbox within 12 hours. I confirm ship as soon I print out the shipping label because it is the most convenient time to do so. Check me feedback and how many items I have sent and then tell me I am part of the problem. Think before you speak and accuse others as part of a problem.

AMEN
While I overall agree with the sentiment above, especially when it concerns most forum goers, I would argue that this behavior, however honest the seller, is the big window of potential problems under this proposed new system.
Confirming shipment before that package is in the mail opens up the possibility that something DOES come up and you look like an ass for lying about when you shipped. Granted, if the user has 100s of positive feedback most worries would be unfounded, but pressing the button too early is dishonest enough. A fine line here, and it's why I think it's a great step forward, but one that's potentially going to be more trouble than it's worth. Right now, as it stands, it appears to be nothing more than an incentive for less honest individuals to lie about when they shipped it, as if we didn't have enough problems with late shippers as it is.
Personally, I generally ship within an hour of getting matched up for a title, and hit the 'Confirmed Shipped' button as I walk out the door to put it in the blue USPS box. However, even I could get hit by a truck or break my leg in the parking lot or something and be found dishonest about my timing of pressing the button. Extreme maybe, but I think I'll just resort to confirming shipment when, you know, it's out of my hands.

Or less extreme, all those instances of "life getting in the way" that people talk about on here as a reason to ship later than agreed. Now these same users are saying it's fine to say you shipped it as soon as you print the label, assuming the risk that any one of those "life" events could get in the way (i.e. don't have time to go to a mailbox). And at the end of the day, they're still comfortable placing all of the penalties associated with the risk on the buyer.
It's a wonderful example of having your cake and eating it too (whatever the hell that means).

lol...Personally, I put both life and work on hold when I get matched up...maybe I'm just an overzealous trader. Nothing gets in my way of getting that package out of the door, and I don't have to make up any BS about life to cover my lazy ass. Win win!

I disagree, as it is not dishonest at all. As it proves I just PAID for the shipping when I input that tracking # into the confirm shipped. This has nothing to do with what is going on. The problem at hand are those who confirm ship with no tracking, yet then try to cancel afterwards.
The unlikely chance one gets hit by a truck or has something happen to them before they ship it out after confirming ship with a tracking # just isn't a good argument piece.
This has to do with obvious scammers or lazy traders, not legit users who every once in awhile may have something come up that delays mailing.
What about those that falsely confirm a bunch of titles, spend the points, and bail on Goozex afterwards? Why bother with the bogus cancel then when you know you're not sticking around?

Thats another thing Goozex has to deal with. But they also have to ship a couple titles to get the feedback to get the points that fast.
I personally think you shouldn't get points automatically after confirm ship until you have at least 100 feedback. Right now, it is so low. Someone can spend about $15 to scam to +20 feedback, then do what you are saying. Setting feedback at 100 for the requirement places more effort and possible money to a scammer, that they might not deem it worth the trouble.

But couldn't the whole discussion be averted if everyone confirmed shipping when they can confrim that they have actually shipped the item?

While I wholeheartedly agree now, as a new user I may have gone insane. I was hovering over Goozex like a hawk waiting for my first +30 feedback to get to Insta-Points and finally be able to sleep at night.

...and this.
Then I have to go back, figure out which user's address goes with which username. It is easier and mroe efficient as a high volume trader to post the confirm shipped with tracking number as I pay and print.
Look, I get burned by late shippers and people confirming ship and actually shipping late. It definitely sucks, but its not a make or break issue on the site. Goozex gives 15 days, and I allow people up until the final warning to leave feedback before leaving a negative.
But seriously, the percentage of this happening is lower than the forums make it seem. Why? Because we don't come in here praising every excellent trade we complete. For all my trades, which is more than most people, I probably receive 85-90% on time.
I did that under the current/old system since the incentive to confirm shipping was you could prove that you sent the game with the tracking number. With the new one, since I don't get my points until I confirm shipped, there's actually incentive to confirm BEFORE shipping.
