EggyToast: What I think is more powerful is that the seller can no longer cancel the trade. I think one instance where that falls apart, though, is when the seller sends the game and it arrives damaged or crushed. With this change, the buyer MUST cancel the trade -- and get put to the back of the line. Or leave a negative when it might be due to the post office. It's probably a case of "well, people might get some unfair negatives," but I wanted to bring up that forcing buyers to cancel trades, especially on popular new games, can really be a downer. Getting put back at the end of a 200-person queue is probably enough to sour some users.

I wouldn't cancel the trade on damaged goods, I would absolutely put a negative.
The seller can escalate a dispute if they want, and let Goozex admins sort it out. If the seller didn't do anything wrong, then Goozex should take care of everything. But in that case a negative is totally the appropriate response.
FWIW I can't imagine what would have to happen during ship in order to get something so crushed that the game is unplayable. DVD cases are extremely resilient. If you're shipping disc-only, you should still be putting the game in some sort of protective case; if you don't, that's seller error.
Wasn't it like this before? I'm glad this is back
sounds good, except my concern is that people will click "confirm shipped" well before it's actually shipped. I'm nto talkign just about scammers who never plan oon shipping, but on ppl who do ship bu they just want their posts right away. So maybe they get matched, hit confrim shipped the next day but don't send for another 3 days. Which wouod be fine ordinarily, but now you're sitting around with the idea that it was shipped earlier than it actually was.

*shrug* That's a much smaller problem than point scamming. It's still a step in the right direction.
These update news and notices probably should also go in a section on the Goozex front page or on a section in the My Goozex page, since I presume that >75% of Goozex don't look in the forums, if not more.
killmak: Too bad they didnt implement this today. G-nitro does not deserve my points until he ships my game!! In all seriousness this new rule doesnt mean anything to me.

I refuse to confirm shipment then. You will have to wait for it to arrive!!! :P
zannabianca: An important addition to the rules already explained by Blackcoyote is that the customer service will no longer justify a seller that confirms shipped, and then when a negative feedback is disputed claims that he could not find the game (or other excuse) and request the negative to be reversed. Once a trade is confirmed shipped, it will be considered as such. The seller checked that everything was ok, mailed the game to the buyer, and then confirmed it as shipped. There will be no coming back.

I'm kind of shocked to hear that customer service allowed this practice in the first place.
I agree with tainted, it's a good rule and I don't have much of a problem with it, but if someone had the intent to scam in the first place, this isn't going prevent them from clicking "confirmed" right away.
By the way, G-Team ... this change is the type of change that should be communicated all members via e-mail before it goes live.

with the concern about Emails being misconstrued as spam, this actually would work very well; an Updates tab or section where there was a catalog of changes would be pretty nice
could even possibly have a notification on the person's my goozex page of "New Site Update xx/xx/xx", much like the new PM notification
I like this idea. While I don't think it will reduce scammers significantly, I do feel it will push people to ship games faster.
I like the new announcement. Now everyone will know about the change. Good call

Holding points until after confirmed shipment is a good idea, but I'd really like to see it go further, and not have points awarded until the buyer leaves feedback. Of course, this opens up the possibility for buyer abuse of the system...
But as a buyer, I got screwed on Borderlands, guy traded to me a few days after release, confirmed ship a few days later, then cancelled the trade a few days after that... Luckily I had already run out and bought the game for $40 here in Canada because all my friends were playing and I have no willpower...
But after staying up late and getting 40 something place in line for Dragon Age, I get a trade for it already today. Similar stats to previous trader, fairly new, traded a couple old games to build feedback, and now a day one new release trade.
Here's what I sent him, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, while also trying to let a possible scammer know I know exactly what's going on:
Hello,I'm just curious as to why you're trading this game on the day of release. Not that I wouldn't appreciate getting it so fast, but I've had issues before with people who are trying to game the system, sending out a few games to build their feedback, then as soon as they get instant points upon approving a trade start "trading" new releases to get the points, Of course they never show up, and this causes delays and sadness throughout the system.I'm not suggesting that these are your intentions, there could be reasons why someone would buy and trade a game day one, but if they are I urge you to cancel this trade. Goozex is a wonderful community, and by trying to game the system you would be ruining it for everyone. If you're serious about trading the game, I look forward to receiving it. If not, please consider whether 1000 points is worth harming the community.Thank you very much, I await your reply.
Let's see what happens.
Haha, he already cancelled it!

Only shows up on My Goozex currently. Needs to be applied to the new style homepage still.

Sellers will no longer be allowed to cancel after confirming shipment. :D

I just wanted to commend you on a well thought out and non-confrontational PM to the seller.
