Another possibility for seeing all these xNAMEx users is the "Straight Edge" movement. Here is a wiki article that talks about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_edge I don't know much about it but I remember it from when I did some studying on modern sub-culture religious movements a few years back. Apparently it signifies a commitment to avoid drugs alcohol etc. not sure if that is what most of these people are saying, but it is a possibility.

Don't watch wrestling, do you? As for it being from the early 80s, dead on there. Earliest reference of it I know of off-hand is the Minor Threat song "Out of Step (With The World)". Doesn't use the term, but it's certainly what he's referring to.

Edit: Totally forgot. They actually had a song TITLED "Straight Edge"...

Straight edge is still alive and in some states the following is very large. (Utah, Michigan, Florida) X's in my name are too show I am Edge.

Straight Edge is funny.  If you dont want to do all those things just dont do them you dont need to make up a "cool" name for it.

II NAME II, xXxNamexXx, Name(#), are all variations so that people can use a name that is either common, or taken by someone else.
